Vimeo vs. Exposure Room

Same here. E-mailed him, but no reply. They must be growing so quickly that he can no longer count the customers on the fingers of one hand. :) Where he used to probably get 4-5 e-mails a day, maybe now he's getting 100-150 e-mails daily and finally gave up trying to answer all of them. Just a feeling I get lately.
Rebecca said they're doing some upgrades that took longer than expected. Let's hope that's it. But with all the financial meltdown that's going on in the US this week, it wouldn't surprise me if we start seeing some startup sites lose their capital/funding from scared investors. And you know what happens to high bandwidth web operations that lose funding. :(

I've been using Exposure Room for about 7-8 months and I love it (When the site doesn't go down!) and dabbling with Viddler.

Viddler is more reliable, but doesn't look as good.

I played with Vimeo, but kept getting accounts deleted because my stuff was too "commercial" and so recently paid for an upgraded account.

WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!! My Vimeo HD vids take between 15-90 seconds to load when embedded on my blog. Vimeo is hype and nothing else.

Stick to Exposure Room or go with Viddler

ExposureRoom has a nice setup and atmosphere, but my videos get about 1/50th the traffic of the versions I put on YouTube. And YT hasn't been very good since about 15 months ago, when something changed, or membership reached critical mass and my videos were getting lost in the crowd suddenly. It used to be that I could put one up, and within an hour have 500 views. Now I'm lucky to get a hundred in a month, unless it's the rocket truck flipping over at 300mph...

i personally like how you can watch a HD 720P clip on Vimeo full screen "letter-boxed" with scaling off. i don't like distractions when i watching films, videos, clips, etc. letterbox is nice for larger res monitors with scaling turned off.

In Youtube I get the most views on my videos. The user interface is ugly but still not too difficult to use. I use youtube actively.

Vimeo looks best and is easiest to navigate. I personally havent had have a problem with the limited filesizes and 1HD upload per week. But it could be a prob for some. I use Vimeo to embed video on my site. Not as much traffic as youtube but its getting better.

Exposure room uploads really well and streams smoothly and is nice quality but I find the user interface really cluttered and hard if not impossible to navigate. I dont use XR actively because of this.

Yes. XR is about as unintuitive as you can get.I have tried really hard and so have other, to get them to redesign but I don't think it is a priority. But underneath the messy exterior is a great asset.

Exposureroom is down again. Has been for the best part of a day. Whilst its a great site when it is up, I am finding the downtime totally unacceptable and have decided to move all my clips over to Vimeo, who are up nearly all the time.

A shame but reliabilty is paramount and Exposureroom isn't reliable enough.

I've never had a problem with exposure room as a few people have mentioned.
I used to use Vimeo but found the quality not quite as sweet. The upload time on XR is far superior as well ( I have a 20mb connection as well ) so its pretty easy to see where Vimeo maxes out in server speed.

Bugger!! XR is really giving me the shits at the moment - I've tried to upload a 100MB clip twice since last night and both times it gets interrupted. Now I can't even browse the XR domain. Man things must be going haywire over there!

XR - best if you can upload.

XR - best if you can upload.

BEST QUALITY
Exposureroom - in both HD HQ SMALL - ALL LOOK GREAT. Great for imbeding in your webpages or for clients. Low Views - pro network mostly.
Vimeo - GOOD HD, but still stutters in playback. Great community for feedback, still low views. Semi-pro.
Youtube - great HD, lots of viewers, you can advertise and push product. A++... Non HD, look like crap.. but good sound.
Revver - stay away! Crappy sound, and now 30 sec Hollywood movie adds before your video... destoyed my website and ebay listings... I now use exposureroom for both - see wavesdvd.com. Compare that to my youtube - same files search "wavesdvdcom"

I use youtube to sell and market my DVDs. I use exposureroom to show the best quality on my websie and ebay sales listings. I use vimeo for fun, to get video lovers feedback... but they limit their HD to 500MB a week. Youtube and Exposureroom, you can upload all the HD that you want!

Oh then it's YouTube, you can upload 720p but it is displayed at a lesser resolution right? Even when selecting HD.

Youtube only displays the full 720P if you choose Full Screen playback. Where the limitation lies is with color subsampling. It's rather blocky if you have intense colors with sharp edges, such as fire trucks, in the scene.
Also, FYI, americantowns will index your YouTube video if you put the name of the town, state and 'americantowns' in the key words.

So which is best for sports?

So which is best for sports?

I shoot a lot of sports with pans and fast action. Vimeo seems shuddery when the action is moving. Is ExposureRoom smoother? If so, any negatives to ExposureRoom?

Okay, I just found this thread. Here's the thread I started regarding quality problem in ExposureRoom vs. Vimeo. For some reason, ExposureRoom tech support don't see what I see. I hoping I'm wrong here.

I haven't tried uploading anything to Vimeo yet, but I'm still really happy with Youtube's picture quality. If you've uploaded any HD clips recently they all look awesome, even when you watch the lower resolution versions. Here's my example:

I might go and throw some stuff up on Vimeo but Youtube works well enough for me that I'm not really considering switching or anything.
