Vimeo/HMC 151 help

I am trying to get some decent footages on vimeo since a while (no jitters) and after i have wrote to vimeo and checked their "jittery playback topic" on their forum and tried a lot of different compression settings with all the different recording modes with my HMC 151, i cannot improve my footages. Videos are jittery and i thought may be some DVX users could helps me.

So first, i use final cut studio 3 to edit and i follow the exact compression settings vimeo recommends (i tried many on my own without better results about jitters).
I use compressor to export. I tried straight from the timeline and after exporting a first time via Quicktime Movie. No differences.

Second, everything i film in 50 or 60fps is VERY jittery once uploaded in vimeo. Looks fine on youtube and exposure room though. So now i film in 30fps or 25fps, even action sports because it is the best way to have my footages looks correct on vimeo but i'd like to create slow mo and get the 50/60fps look for action sports and even in 30fps it is not really flow and smooth as i'd like to and yes it still jitters for my eyes.

Lately i did one video in 30fps but when panning with my tripod it stutters on vimeo... you can see on the first 30 seconds of the video, around 1 minute there is a steadycam shot and it is not smooth either... Looks like it misses some frames.

Both html5 and flash players stutters, HTML5 might be a bit better and it doesn't stutter that much in full screen. Panning is flow on my computer and exposure room... But it is not acceptable on vimeo.

Does someone has/had the same kind of trouble and could share some tips ? Thanks a lot x

I'm a Vimeo Plus guy -- so I'm absolutely not bashing Vimeo. That said -- two thoughts come to mind.

If everything looks fine on YouTube -- that means you probably haven't screwed up frame rates in that whole Mac work flow circus. Assuming that...

1) Try lowering the bit rate of the file you upload to Vimeo. Less than 10mb/s usually works very nicely on Vimeo. Above that and things start to stutter.

2) Try viewing your video at a different time during the day. When Vimeo gets heavy traffic -- it gets slow and funky. Also, if your internet connection isn't so hot, you may have problems with Vimeo.

At my shop, we shoot most everything at 720p/24pN on our HVX-200 cams unless a client needs 30p or 1080/60i. We edit with FCP Studio 2 and Avid Media Composer 4.5, depending on the project, and we use either Compressor or Sorenson Squeeze to output our Vimeo-uploaded previews.

I've found that our best quality Vimeo setting is H.264/Mp4 @ 4000kbps, 1280x720, unless there's a lot of action going on in the frame, in which case we bump it up to 5000kbps. I hope that helps!

I film everything on 151s as well. A mixture of 1080/25p and 720/50p. I've have no problems at all with Vimeo in terms of stuttering.

Using compressor I export to H/264 LAN streaming but then make the following changes ...

Width & Height to same as Source (or 1280x720 if the source is 1080). I set the data rate to AUTOMATIC, key frames every 150, medium quality - then upload this to Vimeo.

I do use Vimeo Plus though.
