Viewfinder Question

Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new, also not just to this forum, but to DSLR's themselves.

I've recently bought a viewfinder (a LCDVF replica). Now, with the magnets I've had some trouble keeping the magnet actually attached to the camera. It seems to come off every so often, especially if I don't make sure to keep pressure on keeping the magnet on while pulling the VF off. I've kept it attached to the LCD screen since I received it, which was only a few days ago.

Anyway, I'm just asking what's an easy/safe way of ensuring the magnet stays on, or is it just as easy to buy new magnets etc, hopefully this isn't a really dumb question, I just don't want to do anything to damage the LCD screen.

ALSO - If there happens to be any kiwi's on this website that knows where to buy good VF eye cushions I'd greatly appreciate it because it's not quite worth paying $50 shipping for a couple eye cushions.. Thanks!

Here's the thing: the LCDVF is the budget-minded option, and is the poor man's Zfinder. A "replica" of the LCDVF just doesn't sound promising. Without knowing exactly what you got, I'd say you ended up getting a poorly-made knock-off that uses cheap adhesive. Once adhesive has let go, it's unlikely that you'll get it to stick. With the LCDVF, they recommend gently warming the mounting frame (after applying to the camera) with a hair dryer and then applying pressure to it for an hour to ensure a solid bond.

Yes, there are a couple other cheap DSLR viewfinders that are less expensive than the LCDVF and a couple of them have satisfied users around here. Again, without knowing exactly which viewfinder you purchased, it's hard to know exactly what you're dealing with or where to get replacement parts. But you get what you pay for.

Honestly, I've been very happy with the viewfinder, the only problem is it doesn't quite fit the 550D, which is not a problem though IMO, because you only lose a tiny amount off the LCD & it's not sticked perfectly but I didn't do the greatest job maybe on ensuring it sticks. I've got another magnet, so worst come to worst I'll just do the method you recommended.

This is the viewfinder I've got:

It's an exact replica as far as I can tell, and I can't be more happy with it - I haven't got a lot of money (am only a student) so I have a tendency to go down the cheap route which backfired when I bought a crap steadicam. I was expecting to have problems with this viewfinder, much like the steadicam, but overall, I'm very impressed.
