Please only watch this if you are absolutely bored and have nothing to do for the next 3 minutes.

Everything is explained at the end of the video, which made for an extremely entertaining night.

"disaster in the making"

shot with the A1, of course.

* i was the writer, director, DoP, actor and gabby was the camera operator.. ya know how it is with these things.... when u lend a hand, u tend to do the entire thing yourself haha.

---------------------------------------

My friend Gabby called me a few days ago asking me if i could lend a hand with the editing of her final video project. I said sure, but when she showed up, she pulled out a Hi8 camcorder... No analog to digital converter, meaning she was screwed, and if she had nothing to present, not only would she fail hte class, but she would not be able to attend university the following year ( she just applied to communication studies and got accepted ).

So, once again, i forked my night to give her a hand, this was done, written, shot, and edited in an hour and a half

lol, oh dear.. and yeah, thats me.

You're such a gentleman PaPa!

I would have propably just hooked the Hi8 up to a TV and recorded the screen picture with the A1. That is, unless she was _really_ good looking. :)

Considering the timeframe you did very well. Fun, quirky. Nice CC too, the A1 is looking hawt.

ya, i blame any beauty that could have come out of this on the camera,, good job canon, my little boy....

Haha I actually laughed at the ending.

Do you think this will keep her in the program?

wait, the A1 doesn't do analog to digital conversion? i could have sworn i read in the manual that it did.

but hah, i laughed at the end... totally didn't see that coming : )

I know you can take some of the cheaper Sony Handycams and connect the Hi8 to the RCA ports and feed it out through the FireWire...

Nice video... Any particular lighting used?

yeah, used my 600/1200watt flood with doors from .. you got it! BRITEK! lol, they are doin the job for now.

The only thing i was happy with was the lighting, lol the rest was garbage but it got the job done.

this wasnt to keep her in the program, she just needs to pass Cegep ( quebec system of schooling, high school finishes at grade 11, you do 2 years of cegep/college, then you go off to university)

but wel find out i guess. lol thanks for the comments, but i fee l badly for taking up a fewm inutes of your time for something like this haha.

just checked, the A1 does do analog-digital conversion.

page 108 on the manual - go to signal setup and set AV->DV to ON. then just connect the AV cables from the Hi8 to the A1 and the A1 to PC via firewire and capture away.
