FS7: videos I shot today

Looks great. Thanks for sharing. I am counting down the days till I can get this camera at the start of the year.

BTW, how are you liking the Vision Impulz LUTs? Worth the money?

visioncolor lutz are really a great starting place to pull nice skintones from s log 3 and s gamut.cine footage

I know FS700 needs to stay at ISO2000 in Slog2 but wondering what ISO recommendation is in Slog3. About the XQD media cards... if anyone asks... S series is being discontinued and the future is G series. The later have faster offload speed but both do all frame rates on the camera.

Man those shadows of the slow-motion footage are very very noisy.

It does go noisy if you underexpose, but you can get clean HFR without too much trouble. And to be fair, if that was on a C300 people would go on about how organic and film like the noise looked, but then again you can't shoot HFR on a C300 so it's kind of irrelevant...

i can't wait to go fs7 to my o7q and then look at slo mo
until then - hey, it's 180 FPS at 1080p that can record the whole time - not in bursts like the fs700 - and in a 8k camera - I'm not complaining

Ok, so if you use enough light it will be clean? I’m just a bit worried because that shot is in daylight outside and should have enough light.

Is it more noise in HFR due to binning and processing inside the camera or is it more noise just because the exposure is lower due to keeping an 180 degree shutter? I guess this is shoot in EI mode hence no internal noise reduction is applied so it would be interesting to see just how much noise reduction can be made in camera in custom mode vs EI mode.

Out of interest if you are looking for best quality why would you ever want to apply NR in-camera as opposed to on a high spec dedicated edit system that doesn't have to render it on the fly in real time as you record?

Less work in post is one reason to have lower noise in camera. I've never used noise reduction on my F3 since I always run it in locked S-log mode so I honestly don't know it there are tradeoffs using internal NR on the Sony cameras.

NR at any level tends to be a tradeoff but if image quality is the greatest concern I wouldn't dream of doing NR in camera, no matter what mode i was in.

Of course, if the footage isn't being graded or is fast turnaround material that's a different story.

I had noise and jumpy artifacts at higher ISO's in HFR mode on the F55. Imagine it would be the same across the board, good exposure and using lowest ISO of course help.
