Video out to a Standard TV? With Final Cut or Edius.

Hi,

Is there a budget way of getting your canvas to be viewable out of the computer into a TV?

I’m working with HVX200 footage DVCPRO HD format, but would like to watch the footage on a standard definition TV for Colour correction, safe area issues etc, whilst editing

Can it work by: Firewire out > through a minidv camera. > into the TV?

Or do I need expensive capture cards etc? What’s the cheapest way of achieving this.

Many Thanks
Regards

My media centre pc has a graphics card with a component out which I use for hi def films all the time. I have set it up in clone mode and made the component out set to 1080i. So i loaded Edius on this pc and when editing in Edius the main monitor in Edius is displayed on my 32" hi def TV. Works fine for me and the picture is excellent. The only limit is you can only use one pc monitor.

coffee....several options, and they have all been covered a million times.

What are you editing with?

With FCP on a mac you can just use one of your DVI monitors. It's the cheapest way.
and it makes more sense than using SD to CC.

You can not view high def on a standard def tv and do color correction. You cheapest solution is to buy a high def tv with a DVI input and even then it is ok for viewing but not ideal for CC.
