GH2 Very poor video quality in 720p

I usually shoot in the HBR 25p on my unhacked GH2 1080p. Yesterday I tried the 720p SH mode mainly to see what the slow motion would look like when changed to 25p. When playing back a couple of short test films the overall quality looked awful particulary when played through PowerDVD. Through that the image kept displaying very blocky pixelated areas. Using Windows media player and VLC it played it without any pixel blocky areas but it seemed to have a rather old colour cast (pinky!) to the picture. Also the bitrate was only about 12mbps as against up to 17mbps as it is listed as (unhacked). Is there any reason why PowerDVD should struggle to play this type of file when it has no issues with the 24 or 25p cinema/HBR modes? Also am I importing it correctly into my NLE to get the slow motion. I use Premiere Elements 10 and I imported the files as 720p 24FPS. But when I played it through PE it was not slowed down so must have done something wrong! Or should I import it at 50p and adjust it them?

Is there any software similar to twixtor- as that particular plugin does not work with PE of course?

My GH2 in 720P mode has soft low resolution video compared to 25P HBR or even 50i so i never use it,i often wonder if my cameras 720P was normal not being able to match even 50i.

+1. 720p is appalling on an unhacked GH2, but superb on even a modestly hacked one. Great for the slow motion that you want. Although it does sound like you have some odd playback issue as well - not sure about that.
