Hi all,

first of all: thanks for stepping in although it does
not read HVX200 in the title.

I got my new DVX100BE last friday.
I have finished my first tape.

These are stills from that tape.
I didn't make any kind of post production on these,
so they're exactly what came out of the cam. (no CC
or anything like that)

Of course, these were made within my first two hours
of practice with this cam - or any prosumer cam that is.
So please don't critizise too much, I hopefully will get better.

Choosing the cats as the very first object of practice wasn't
such a clever idea. Those things move...! Whenever I was
done finding the right settings and looked back through the
viewfinder, the cat was gone ...

Last not least: thanks to StickyPod for the webspace!

Okay, here we go:

That looks great, a lil warm look. sure after CC the images would def. look better. Cheers.

I'm resisting the urge to make some very effiminate comments...

Did you shoot this close to sunset? I really like the warm tones, they complement the animals' coats well. I don't really like the second pic, it looks like the cat is about to deliver some British Tea Time broadcast. And, is it just me, or is the lens dirty on the last picture? *grin*

Otherwise, looks good. I really like the fifth picture - you should consider still photography!

thanks for your feedback.

The lense was not dirty on the last picture - but the windows sure was.

kind regards,
Oli

I got my DVX last night and the first thing I shot was my cat.

LOL

What would we all do with our DVX'es if we hadn't got cats?

Maybe one day EVS will have a DVX+tripod+cat bundle.

yeah, those really do look very good. I think my favorites are 1 and 2. DOF is great, and the images really are very crisp. colors look good too. Good first grabs!

Nice footage. lol I also filmed my cat when I first got my dvx100a, that's pretty damn weird that so many people did that.

I don't really think it's weird.
First time you use a new cam you don't really want to go outside with it. You want to stay at your place.
So you want to film indoors.
Filming "objects" like a chair, a table, etc. wouldn't make much sense.
So you'll be watching for something alive.
Girlfriends are most likely to go "go away with that cam" so what's left?

"come goodygoodycattycatty, coooome here catty catty catty"

:D
