very confused with mxf files

I am cutting a short right now and the director handed me off about 300 mxf files shot on the HVX. I have p2cms and final cut studio 2. I am used to just logging the HVX p2 footage straight to FCP through log and transfer. But now I only have MXF's. How do I convert the MXF's into .movs?

Just point the L&T to the location of the .mxf files to convert to .mov files.

Raylight has a plug in that makes it possible to edit using .mxf files. Highly recommended - you don't have to wait for the L&T and you don't need double the HDD space.

File|Import|Log&Transfer. You didn't say, but you need to have the MXF files organized into their CONTENTS folder along with their associated LASTCLIP.TXT file, each card set in their separate folders. Then just point L&T to the folder that contains the CONTENTS folder. If the director just gave you the MXF video files , then you are screwed.

I with Dick's observation here. mxf bare files probably will not be seen as a valid p2 volume by FCP
