AC90: Vegas Pro testifies: not really 30p

So I have started editing some 30p footage from the AC90a- and boy was I surprised when Vegas Pro told me "not so fast, this be interlaced footage". I discovered this when I noticed that some of the still photos on the timeline are showing "combing" artifacts when animated. This AC90 footage itself doesn't show combing, but all the other elements: stills, titles, and graphics do.

Some online research and thumbing through the manual revealed that... sure enough- the AC90's 30p is wrapped up in a 60i stream. The old "PsF" feature that I thought I left far behind when I stopped using HDV.

The problem is that I HAVE to work in a 30p timeline. Changing the project's properties from upper fields/interlaced to progressive only makes the clips soft. The only way to fix this seems to be: change the project's properties to progressive, import the AC90 30p clips, then right click on each clip and change its properties from upper field to progressive. Then you will have a progressive project, and progressive clips. The clips themselves don't seem to change in resolution when you modify this setting (though it would if you left the project in interlaced mode).

So to any Vegas users out there- does this sound right?
