Since we are heading into 2009, will there be a new version coming in the new year? Seems like new versions are released every year. What do want Santa to bring to Vegas?

64bit utilization, slicker UI, more pro plugins, even more codec support, support for up to 8(or even 16) render threads and more dynamic ram for preview (limit on 1024mb is weak).

just a few.

A GNU/Linux version! Or at the very least a version that isn't a combo of regular Windows API and .Net, so that Wine or Mono could actually run it... Vegas is the only reason I still have a Windows box around.

Yeah, me too. It's the only program I couldn't get working under virtualization.

I've been running Vegas Pro 8a since March on 64bit Vista without any problems.

same here - that's not the problem. I said its not utilizing 64bit.

amen to audio speed ramping and indie owners.

I wish to see a better looking GUI, faster rendering, and a hardware option from Sony to make Vegas a REAL, realtime NLE .. not just RT preview which dose not play smoothly after a few effects, and layers ... Also, I would love to see a better, and advanced compositing featurs, so that we do not have to need After Effect anymore ;)
