Vegas 8

VAAST has a Vegas 8 update with Douglas Spotted Eagle. It primarily hits the high points. I'm a little confused with the Pro Type Titler myself. My display window doesn't react the way his does on the DVD (probably something I'm not doing) and it seems to get in the way. But, my main confusion is what makes this so dramatically better than what we had in Vegas 7. I haven't really worked with it much so there's probably more to it than I'm seeing. Good luck.

Hi,

I'm from Holland Amsterdam and one of a view users of Vegas 7. Somehow no one here seems to know Vegas. But anyway that is not my question. I'm trying to render a project uncompressed but i wonder is that is possible in Vegas and if yes can someone tell me how? Untill now my steps are Render > File: Video for Window (avi.) > Default Template (uncompressed) but this seems not to work???

It works very well on my system. I do uncompressed renders all the time. Video for windows. Uncompressed. Yes i think that should be it. See if you have any project settings that might be causing the problem.

I also can render out uncompressed (doing exactly what you're stating) for huge AVI's, though if I'm storing them long term, I tend to go with the default compressed AVI setting, as it's still VERY high quality.

As far as what makes Vegas 8 better than Vegas 7? For me, it was all about the new color correction tool. I upgraded SPECIFICALLY because I wanted less banding in my color corrections, and was getting ready to release the last film, BERLIN, out on DVD, etc.

I upgraded and the new 32 bit floating point color correction was a MASSIVE improvement from the previous 8 or 10 bit (can't remember what it was) in 7. HUGE difference and well worth every penny for the upgrade.

Computer Hardware Required with Vegas and AVCHD?

Computer Hardware Required with Vegas and AVCHD?

I've jumped ship..sold the XH-A1 and got a HF-s100. I'm sorry, tape and HDV are toast. The S100's output looks like still pictures from a 8.6MB digital camera..moving. Ahh, but then I load up an AVCHD clip into my Vegas 8 Pro and it stutters and slows down. PC? Dell 2.4ghz Quad-Core with 3GB, on-board video. So, what do I need...how many GB ram and what video card? Are there some tricks to enabling Vegas to work well with AVCHD? It would be great for someone to make a workflow sticky for Vegas and AVCHD. Tips & Tricks.....

Thanks! Bob :zombie_smiley:

Your specs are fine. Video card isn't used, so it doesn't matter. Vegas 9 will do you better. It's a software issue, not a hardware issue.

Though, you could try a striped RAID for your footage.
