I already have ... hmmm...
HVX + G35 = $6500 to $7000
Sell DVX + century wide angle + anamorphic + all filters and anything that won't fit the HVX on Ebay = 2700 to 3000 + 2700 financial aid left over from UCLA online screenwriting program financial aid + 1000 for selling old G4 12" laptop on Ebay = $6700 + Credit Card = HVX and G35.

Woohoo Yea Yippee!

I want that setup for SDOF in native 16X9 -- can't even begin to think about upgrading my system to HD yet -- but the camera will be there for me when I do. I could also shoot a feature HD do a realtime down rez to SD, Edit on my Mac, make and EDL, then take the EDL and the original HD to our comminuty video center and edit HD there. In the meantime, I will have 500 lines of resolution in 16X9 with SDOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your excitement Norm. We are very close. BTW didn't you just get married? You need to quickly sneak these expenses in while you are in your honeymoon stage :) I just bought a Leica with this technique. works like a charm. You only have a 1-2 year window though!! We will definitely be well into production by then. Cheers! BTW how did your mini35 shoot go? I'm curious to see some footage.

Jonathan-

edit: I just saw your thread 4 down. That looks great. I really like the concervative lighting, a very realistic approach. Was the scene with the floating paper crane shot at 1/250th of a second? That looked really nice. SHE'S YOUR DAUGHTER TOO!! :)

The CC in the Monterey clip was just a Magic Bullet preset.

Amazing stuff, elrosten!

Which MB preset was this? Or was this a custom preset? If it was a custom job, would you be able to share the Magic Bullet settings you used?

Sorry, I'm a Magic Bullet nut.

hmmmmm....

What does the G35 look like? It seems like an amazing product...what would the estimate price range be when the final product comes out? How much is the beta version?

I ain't know nothin' 'bout no PC's.

I know my G4 17" laptop will not do the trick. Renders much of final cut pro in realtime but my twelve minut short rife with Magic Bullet took a whopping 15 hours to render

elrosten: can you tell us what it was like shooting your footage with an inverted image, or did you use an external monitor, or the magnet technique?

Russ

Ponder,

I used a magnet to flip the image on the DVX's lcd screen. Focusing is a little tricky but the nice thing is the DVX100a "peaking" feature still works with the adapter.

Are you using the focus enhancement? I find that it helps a lot. BTW I had a buddy mention that you should submit the piece to Motel 6 as a spec spot. Cut it down a bit and either change the music (that would be a shame) or just get royalties. It could easily pay for an new HVX

Do you have any idea of a time frame that we can expect the G35 to be released? And are you working on an adapter to fit the HVX?

Yeah i'm using the focus enhancement. that's what I meant by "peaking"

Spec spot, eh? I'm not sure how Tom Bodett would feel about this :)
