So I've had this v8000HD monitor for less than a week, and it's already broke. I can't turn the thing on or off, because when you press the buttons, nothing happens. Has anyone else been having problems with this monitor???!!

i own the ikan and have had battery issues. does the light turn on at all? does it work with the ac adaptor?

If I gently press on the plastic around the base of the monitor, the light will come on and off...I'm thinking there are some wires loose inside. Works the same way, with or without the battery.

I have an earlier IKAN the V8000W, well I should say I've had 3 of them... On the last warranty repair they offered an upgrade to the HD model for an additional $400. Based on the build quality, and how quickly they seem to break, I've decided to save up for a 'real' production monitor.
Probably the Panasonic BT-LH80W.

I'm on my second V8000HD and encountered the same problems with my first one - it took an unusual number of attempts to turn on with external power and never would work with the battery.

They did give me a speedy exchange with a new replacement that does work, but after reading all the posts about the monitor, I'm beginning to have my doubts about the quality of the product.

i had the first ikan off the line. i use it all the time. it seemed to have a battery charging issue at first but then it worked itself out somehow and has been running perfectly ever since.

If I were you I would contact Ikan directly, I recently purchased a B-Stock
V-8000HD monitor directly from them. I managed to save a couple of Hundred
bucks, however when I recieved the item, I could not mount the Sony L Battery. I contacted customer support. They paid to have me ship the item
back to texas, fixed the problem, and had it back to me within the week. I
found them easy to deal with, and eager to please. Good luck.

Hi Roy,

B stock? How did you manage to get hold of one of those? And can you still get one?

cheers,

JP

i've had mine's for about a month now, yes they are plastic, however, it is also light on weight. there hasn't been a problem for me yet, there was a high pitch sound that erupted everytime i turned it out, however that went away shortly

I just picked up a bstock and have only used it a few times, but am very happy.

So far so good.

jpsheets - they had b-stock items listed on their website. I picked up a dead pixel hd monitor (one pixel) and it was a good discount.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info. I called Ikan and they referred me over to Microsearch there in Houston. Sounds like they are one of their main vendors and that's where they send the B stocks. They don't have any in now, but it sounds perfect for what I need.

cheers,

JP

Hi: You can go on to Ikan's website, get their number, and order
the monitor directly over the phone. they are great people, and
very accomadating. Good luck!

got another one from B&H, this one was just as bad, sent it back...will be working on my third one, hopefully this one works.

Hey Guys,

What adapter BNC connector are you using to connect your Component cables to the monitor?

I have my standard component cables that came with my camera, but I see that the monitor accepts BNC connection?

Thanks,

Jason

Hello Jason,

We have these cables in stock. All you would need are three of the RCA to BNC adapters. They come as a standard accesory with the camera, however, sometimes they get lost. We have some here just in case you need them. They are about $5 each.

We just became a Ikan dealer so if you have any questions about any of their future products, just let us know.

Best regards,

I hate my Ikan more than anything, the battery plate is crap...I dropped 50 bucks on the sony battery adapter, it worked but made the monitor flicker nonstop.

the color sucks on this monitor, and its soft.

Im gonna drop the extra cash on the Panasonic Monitor and never look back.

I just bought one from the ikan booth at NAB. Very nice guys. It's light weight, the picture sharpness and image quality is very good and for critical focus and monitoring, it's the best deal out there. But I agree that the build is not that great. The very second I took it out of the packaging and put on the battery I noticed the flickering of power. I check the batteries so I know it's not that. I plugged it in and it works fine with AC power.

Bottom line is that the L series battery mount is defective. It seems like many others are having the same problem with the mount. I'm not saying this is terribly unexpected considering that it's half the price of the next best thing (marshal 7"). Sounds like it's easy to get the thing fixed and/or replaced, which I intend to do ASAP.
