Need some help and suggestion:
1. Which V-mount battery is good and last long without problem?
2. Which cable can use for connect V-lock power supply with fs700? fs700 use 7.3V?
3. Which cable can use for connect V-lock pwer supply with odyssey 7Q? (i need longer one, more than 80cm)
4. Will the tilta V-lock power supply work for fs700?

urgently need order it soon, can't keep searching google one by one, spent some days on these, i think is better to get suggestion from experienced users here.

Any V-Lock battery should power the Odyssey7Q well. A common wattage is 90w, which is not too heavy and can be taken on a commercial airline in carry-on luggage. Depending on how it is used, an Odyssey7Q will use 8-15 watts of power, so a 90w battery should last at least eight hours.

To power an FS700 from the V-Lock battery, you will need a battery mounting plate and the appropriate cable. I know that MovCam makes cables to work with the FS700 but require the MovCam battery mount. This battery mount also has additional outputs which can be used to power the Odyssey7Q. There is a D-Tap connector, so you could use the Convergent Design D-Tap cable for the Odyssey7Q (CD-OD-DTAP). This cable is 36" long.

Do you mean the Tilta V-Lock? I'm not familiar with it.

Yes i mean the Tilta V-lock, i interested in getting that because it is cheaper and it give 7.3v can use for fs700 directly and 12v as well can use for odyssey 7Q, but i can't find any cable that can connect between Tilta V-lock to odyssey 7Q. Tilta V-lock is using AC. The odyssey 7Q cable is called 4pin lemo? is this the cable can use for odyssey 7Q? example: http://cvp.com/index.php?t=product/movcam_101-002-4

i just read the odyssey 7Q can accept DC power ranging from 6.5v-34v and i found that the Tilta V-lock having one 14.8v D-TAP connector, so i think i will be able to use CD-OD-DTAP cable with 14.8v without problem? or odyssey 7Q only allow input 12v?

I am looking for the exact same information. I just created a post basically asking the same questions (and then I saw your post). I would love to know what you find out.

Thank you,

The CD D-tap to 7Q cable works perfectly on the Tilta plate (I have one) as well as the D-tap connector that is built into my V-mount batteries.

I have the Tilta v-mount plate and run the O7Q off the CD Dtap cable (hooked to the plate) and the FS700 from a cable that either hooks to the 8V or 12V (I forget which) on the plate. Works great. The Tilta plate has Dtap, a 5V, 8V, and 12V outputs. If your battery has a Dtap also, then you have two of those to work with.

Thanks all! Which brand of V-mount battery is great and long lasting? any suggestion?

I have always used the IDX batteries, I like them because they are stackable:

So you can balance a rig like above.

But I have now started using the Swits as well they are very nice and a bit less pricey, they also have a D-tap right in the battery. I am starting to sell these at my website. If you need them right now contact me direct. We are putting them up on the store this week.

We also offer kits with power for the 700, from the V-mount or Gold mount batteries.

I will also make custom "inline" voltage converters to 7.4 from 14.8 batteries, this is much less expensive than the plates from IDX or AB. And we are adding a new line of battery plates to our store with less expensive, non brand V-mount and Gold-mount plates in the next week or so, I am just quality testing them now. Contact me directly if you are interested. We will still carry the brand name plates as well.

This is a perfect solution for you.

Where do you get a cable to connect between fs700 and tilta v-mount plate? any link? i can't find a cable for fs700 that having a side of a DC input head for tilta v-mount 8v DC hole

I use one of these: http://cvp.com/index.php?t=product/hawk-woods_lr-05

but I believe Westside AV do a direct cable.

Thanks but this not what i really want. Hope use the DC input jack of fs700 instead of this. If i want do continuous recording and run out of V-mount battery, i can have my own sony NP battery continue to supply power for my fs700.

And hoping it is not from d-tap, cause tilta only have one d-tap output hole, i will leave that to my odyssey 7Q power cable use. So hope can find the DC "circle" head hole to fs700 DC input jack cable.

I'm pretty sure I just asked whichever reseller I ordered from at the time to include a cable that would let me hook the FS700 to the plate and they made one or had Tilta make one. It was before the big places (eg, B&H) were carrying Tilta in the US.

Example:

You can select "FS700 cable" from the drop down. I'd call them and ask whether you can just get the cable.

Olof, i'm interested in few of your products, but when i try to check out and see what is the shipping cost me to ship to my country im totally shocking. I order more than 6kg external hard drive from USA it only cost me around $100 on shipping, but when i only select fs700 handle extension at your website and checkout it cost me $90+ on shipping fee, shipping fee is more than half of the product and it does not even have 6kg. I do read the shipping information at your website saying if the cost of shipping is lower you will refund, but i dunno how much exact it will be, the shipping fee list is way too high, i don't even know how much refund i will get, i guess it will not having big difference with the shipping price list on your website

International shipping can be very expensive because your best choice is Fed Ex, which is very fast, has tracking and insurance. I also ship to some countries by 1st class mail which is a lot cheaper but is not trackable or insurable and can take a few weeks.

However, I have never paid $90.00 to ship a handle anywhere. I always try to get the best possible shipping option for clients so my suggestion is to email me with your shipping address and what you would like to order and I'll see what I can do. We do not mark up shipping and currently we get about a 43% discount on Fed Ex International which we pass on to clients.

I'm just looking for a V-Lock battery distribution plate too.

I like the look of the Tilta and Movcam - solid camera looks even better but is very pricey.

One question I was thinking - how have you found security of cables (and the positioning of the power switch on the Tilta) - easy to possibly pull one out while handling or accidentally knock the power switch - could be pretty messy, particularly for the O7Q while recording (having to rebuild the SSD?).

Locking Lemo type connectors look good, although they're very long and stick out a lot. They also seem to be incredibly expensive built into cables from various suppliers.

Any other rail mounted systems out there that you've looked at?

Thanks!
