I wasn't sure whether to post this in hardware or workflow because it's sort of a combo post. I have a job coming up where I am covering a non-profit organization's tour overseas and producing a 7 minute or so promotional video from the footage. So far, all my footage for them has been 720pn so I'd like it to stay that way if possible and it's a week tour. (and not record sd on tape). My equipment so far is:
HVX
P2 Store
Bogen 501 tripod
Kata HB-207 back pack
1 HVX Panasonic Battery (that came with HVX)
3 CTA batteries for HVX
Storm Case iM2500 (also for HVX)
Mac g4 powerbook with P2 Genie
Samson Wireless Lav
iriver ifp 899 with giant squid mic
Frezzi mini fill with dimmer
I think that's about it. i'm trying to keep the expenses down but don't want to get caught short either.
I'm thinking I probably need to get a portabrace case for the P2 store so i can record and offload continually, at least a few hard drives to offload the P2 store to and some type of shoulder stabilizer (either the multirig or the CB-105 if i can get one) so I don't wear out my wrists and back. I'd love to get a vidled light, a reliable and longer lasting power source for the HVX.
As far as a power source goes, while i don't have any problems with the original panasonic battery, I have some CTA's that don't seem to connect well to the HVX or the P2 store (if it shakes it can lose the connection and shut off momentarily which can be a disaster for P2 imports, so i do need a battery that will definitely not have that problem.
Also i was thinking that i could use the iriver to catch the tour guides audio and shoot less that way, catching b- roll as he speaks etc..
If anyone has any advice in any of these areas I'd appreciate it.
thanks,
Philip
