C100: Using DP4 as EVF, thinking of getting Ninja Star. Perfect couple?

I need to have the ability to do 4:2:2 but since the Blade does not have an eye loupe, and I am very happy and used to my DP4, I am thinking of getting the Ninja Star. I read all the previous posts about the Star but didn't get much info of coupling it with the DP4. I realize the mini HDMI jack is controversial but does anybody have anything good or bad to say regarding the pairing of the DP4 and the Star? It's small enough for me to have it on my shoulder rig back by my receiver box, perhaps powered by my Anton Bauer Dionic with Dtap.
Also, how fast can the C Fast cards be downloaded? That may be an issue.

Thanks

I have that combo and it works a treat! a little bit of delay (2 frames maybe..) but it's not been a problem. Just make sure you don't send the overlays over to the HDMI otherwise it will be on your footage. One great thing about this setup is that you don't need to go to media mode to review the clips since your DP4 is connected to the ninja Star.

I haven't had a problem with micro HDMI yet but I wouldn't recommend banging it into something so position the cables oposite of your head for shoulder shooting.

Thanks James. Could I see a pic of your shoulder rig set up with the DP4 and Star? Trying to figure the layout. How do you power it? How long do the downloads take? That will determine how many cards I have to buy. Thanks

I'll get some photos later this week since my camera is out on rental till Wednesday. I just power it with an LP-E6 battery and I get about 3 hours of battery time. The recorder is attached with a rod adapter behind the camera. downloads aren't long if you have a USB3.0. I have 4 64gig cards. you get about 40 minutes in ProRes HQ per card.

Thanks anyway but after researching the record times on the C Fast cards I have to reject the Star. I often have to roll all day.

I'd still be interested in seeing the setup as I was looking into it !

Any problems with micro HDMI so far ?

have anybody tested the super talent C-Fast card ?

If you want to record in ProRes HQ then yes recording times aren't great since you are using the highest data rate. But if you use ProRes 422 you get over an hour per 64gig card which works quite well. Downloading is faster then the time it takes to fill a card up.

Getting my camera back tomorrow, will take photos.
