Using an audio recorder...?

So today I decided to go and pick up one of those audio recorders that you can record speeches and what not with. The main reason why was because most of them have a mic input built in. The specific one I purchased was a IC-BX800. Now I realize that with this device I'm not able to control the level of the input. But I am able to listen to it via the headphone jack on this unit. So my setup will go like this: Samson Wireless mic + Beachtech DXA-4 (purchased with my Sony VX-2000) + Sony BX800 Recorder.

So I haven't tried this yet but I'm pretty sure it will work. But my question is about syncing. If I record 1080 24p on the T2i and record onto the BX800, how does that work with syncing? Will I run into sync issues? I recall seeing a picture of a DSLR rig that had one of these recorders on it. That's kinda where I got the idea. Any thoughts?

Note: I know the best thing to do would be to buy a H4N but my budget or use doesn't call for spending that kinda cash. This is mainly for personal hobby and a side job or two, soooo yeah.

Well what I do is record on both my 7d and h4n and then in post I use a program called plural eyes which uses the in-camera audio and the external audio to sync the tracks together. Hope that helps!
