Using 170 with CS4 On Location or AVID MC3

Hi guys and thanks for all the positive input. It's all been pretty persuasive and I just got my 170 last week (actually 172 here in West Oz) and have been trying tonight to get it linked to Adobe's On Location on the notebook. However I can't get the 170 to recognise the 1394 connection. (It looks for the connection in PC Mode but keeps giving me a "disconnect" response.) I've tried various menu/operation changes with no luck.

If anybody has their 170 working with OnLocation (or AVID MC3) I'd sure like to know how you did it.

My understanding is you simply connect the 170 with the laptop via FW.

And then set up both to match whatever you are streaming out FW. At least that's what I did.

OnLocation is now reading the 170 okay. Late kast night's problem looked a lot clearer this morning. Likely was only a loose connection!

(Thanks David - it really was that simple.)

I have never used this app before and find there is a big lag between camera filming and the picture appearing on the PC. Will try to solve this today.
