How to offload on a PowerMac?

How to offload on a PowerMac?

Done my searching and was avoiding to ask an old issue here, but only seem to find solutions for Intel based Macs.

Can someone please tell me which version of the P2CMS I should look for in order to offload on a PowerMac?... is this all I will need to then start editing on another G4 with FCP 4.5?

I have a G4 Power Mac with Panther (10.3.9) which intend to use for offloading my 16GB P2 card.

Read a great post by Barry that advices Mac users to download the free "P2 Contens Management Software":
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=118672

But on Panasonic's website all versions seem to only work on Intel based Macs.

Pretty much waiting to solve this before I can schedule a shoot using my new HVX200.
Help will be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I did not specify that the computer I want to offload to is NOT a PowerMac but a PowerBook G4 (550 MHz PowerPC G4 Procesor) laptop with built in PCI slot.
Recognizes the card, but doesn't mount it.

Is there a P2CMS version for this old laptop?

Do I need firmware to upgrade to 16GB cards just for offloading?

Thanks to anyone who can help out.

What is the current firmware version for the HVX200. The Panasonic site says 4.06, but when I check the firmware version on my camera it says 4.07. So I am a little confused.

Also my camera is not recognizing SD cards. I don't know if this is directly related to the firmware or not. I have tried many different capacities and nothing. (not SDHC or MMC)

Any advice would be great.

You may want to do a hardware reset to see if that helps. I haven't heard anything about 4.07 yet but it might be on the way since there has been no update since the middle of 2007.

Is it just me or are none of the links to download p2 drivers and p2cms working?

I tried the links here. I tried by navigating through the product page on panny's website, and I tried professorU's page as well.

Anyone have a copy of vista 64 drivers? Just got a new laptop :)

Later,
Jason

I'm making the updates to my P2 page now.

edit: new links to the new versions for all OSes are up. Panasonic's server is now case-sensitive, too, so if you have old links and bookmarks that used to work and don't, that's probably why.

Bad firmware links

Bad firmware links

Howdy! I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on my HVX200, but when I click on the link to the HVX200 firmware upgrade on your site (sixbullets), I get a page that says "There are no documents or no links." I've found lots of other sites that link to this same page. I sent the link to a friend running IE in Windows, and they're prompted to install Japanese. I've also tried right clicking on the link on your page, and that does indeed allow me to save a .zip file, but it seems to be invalid. My Mac doesn't like it, and my friend's PC doesn't like it either. Any thoughts??

Alas, I've tried this link already...When I go to that page, I click on "P2 Products Firmware Updates," which directs me here:
http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/support/software_16gbp2.asp

Then, next to "AG-HVX200," under Step 3 (software download), I click on "view," which leads me to a license agreement page:
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/soft_agree_e.htm

I click on "Agree," which takes me to another page titled "Driver Software Updates"....
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/soft/upglist_e.htm

where I click on "Download" in the HVX200 row (the 3rd row down,) which takes me to another license agreement page...
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/soft/hvx200_agree_e.htm

...where I click on "I Accept and Download," which leads me to the dreaded "There are No Documents or No Links" page:
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/soft/vsi4598g.zip

This is where every trail I've found online ends...sigh...

Does anyone have the actual file? Could you email it to me?

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what I need to do then. I want to upgrade the firmware on my HVX200 so that it can read a 16 GB P2 card. For every other device (iPod, M-Audio MP3 Recorder, etc) that I've upgraded firmware on, I've always had to download the firmware file, transfer that to the device, and then run an upgrade routine. From the instructions I've read, it's my understanding that the HVX200 is the same - download the file, put it on an SD card, put the card in the camera, and run the upgrade routine.

You mentioned Vista though, and I've never known a firmware upgrade file to be OS specific. Is there something I'm missing?

And thanks, by the way, for your patience. :)

Yes, I can confirm for you the firmware for the HVX200 is not available online. It seems they are in the process of moving the firmware from a directory to sub directory, and they overlooked the HVX200 and 202 after deleting that file.

The good news is that 4.06 is the most recent version and has been current for about two years, so chances are you don't need a firmware update.

...so I contacted Panasonic tech support, who called me back today. The guy on the phone asked me to go to a particular URL and said he'd go through the steps with me. It was amusing because very soon, we were on a page I'd seen many times already, and I was saying "I've been here already - I know - click on "view..." " and he said "Right, and now you'll have to click on the license agreement (I heard his mouse click too), and then the file will..... what the??? Okay wait - let's try another URL." We tried that one, and soon we were on another familiar page. Again, I tried to tell him I'd been here too. He said "well you should be able to click on this link here and then..... @#%$#!!! What's going on!?!? I'm calling Japan RIGHT NOW..."

About ten minutes later, I got an email with an FTP link to the file, so I'm in good shape now.

Can you provide us with the link please? I am needing this update ASAP as i am on set now. I am on hold with Panasonic now and have been for a while. Anything to help would be greatful.

Thanks.
