Used DVX100

You oughta take a look down at the bottom of this forum, at the "marketplace/buying gear" section. I did, and my dvx100b came in last friday.

make sure you check the serial number to make sure it's not a graymarket camera.

I remember reading something about a serial number prefix that will tell you what country the camera was destined for. (I don't mean the '100xP designation, in the actual serial number)

Is that true?

yea, i read it the other day. it was saying to make sure the letters TC are in the serial number and not NC. the guy from panasonic said NC was a japanese version or something. when i read that post i ran to my camera to double check :)

that's what I thought I remembered, but i couldn't find the post to double check. Hmm, mine has TD in the serial number, out of curiosity I wonder if that means the same thing? (since mine is used and the warranty is out anyway I don't think it really matters)

TD???? oh man you got screwed! no, just joking. :)

i'm not sure. i have an hvx200. the guy that got sold a japanese camera had an hvx200 also but he had NC in his serial number so maybe just all the hvx's have TC in the serial number. the dvx100's may have TD. if your camera is working fine and your not getting any foreign language in the menus then i wouldnt lose any sleep over it now.

the convo was this:
"You can talk to me. I am the product manager for the HVX200 and I can
show you that your serial number is not a US serial number. The proof
of this is that in the middle of all US serial number the letters TC are
there. Yours happens to be NC. This is a Japanese serial number.
Panasonic did not sell it to you and nor did we represent the product to
you as a US product. You fight is entirely with B & H.

Please keep us informed of what they say as I will send this through to
the sales channel, but even there we cannot make them take it back."

here's the link to that thread: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=71130

Timer shows 00001H on it- this thing is NEW!

sorry man, a little too steep for me. I can only spend a max of 2k. If you still have it in March (when I will be buying my cam), and the prices of new DVX's havent gone down, I might take you up on the offer. But i doubt you will.
