ALL: Used Battery

Does anybody have any positive or negative experiences with buying a used but highly rated battery from a place like bh or adorama?

Get the Panasonic brand. When the value brand decides to die while still reading 25 minutes left, you start to realize that $50 extra dollars isn't that big of a deal. I've rationalized it by saying, "I'll only use the cheap ones if I really need them." But in the heat of the moment you're grabbing whatever one you can get to first.

As far as used batteries go, I've never had any issues. Especially with a major reseller like Adorama or B&H, you're pretty much guaranteed satisfaction

Never bought a used battery before, and don't really like the idea. Reason is, a battery will often lose a little of their ability to retain a full charge over time. For some they may use their cameras only casually, or just several times a year. To them it may not be an issue. But I shoot A LOT. I can see where some of my batteries (Panasonics, no less) have lost maybe 20% of their run time as indicated in the finder. If you buy a used battery, it might be from someone like me, who used their camera a lot, and whose batteries are well, maybe in need of replacing.
