Well, after 2 years of hard work at a JC, I finally got my letter of acceptance to USC's School of Cinematic Arts Production Program.
I am so excited, my head might explode!

Big thanks to Philip Hover for his advice on my application.

BFA? MFA? how is the money aspect of things treating you?

What are you hoping to concentrate on? cinematography?

Thanks guys.
BFA, and yes diffinitly going to be focusing on cinematography. Cant wait to shoot on film larger than super 8. :)

Cool, thanks guys. Now all I need to do is hope for Financial Aid, or I am going to have some monster sized student loans. :)

That is really badass. I am going the JC route as well, and am hoping to get into USC's program as well in a year. Is this your first time applying?

are you starting in Fall 2008? or Spring 2008?

I'm interested in your financial aid package since I'm going to be applying for Fall 2009 later this year.

Cinematography concentration FTW!!!

Yeah, this is my first time applying. The JC route works, just keep up a high GPA and get involved with your schools ASG and do as much related EC as possible. Good Luck.

I am still waiting to hear back if I qualify for Fin Aid. I start this fall 2008. USC and thier School of Cinematic Arts only accept fall applicants.
Good luck on your app.

Start keeping a notebook of bizarre dreams and random ideas for your first class, 290. You'll need to make a non-dialogue short every three weeks, concepts for which which can be surprisingly difficult in the midst of all the other coursework you'll have. Good luck!

dcarstens- Cool, thanks for the heads up. I started a book for script ideas a couple of years ago, so I hope I will have some stuff to get me started.

What was your GPA and are you taking your camera and computer with you? I will be applying for fall 2009 session. If I get into the critical studies program, I'm not going. How long were you at your JC, and did you work with one of the USC councellors specified for your JC?

Renegadewill- I was at my JC for 4 semesters and my GPA is 3.87 UC transferable(64 units).
I went to one of USC's transfer days and learned about everything that I would need to do to transfer there(before I started at my JC). I also spoke to the School of Cinematic Arts and found out what they are looking for in an applicant.
Every class that I took at the JC was UC transferable and was an accepted course by USC for general ed. and pre req. (the agreement between USC and most other colleges can be found on their website)
I will probably be using the schools equipment for most things, but I will definitly be using my camera on some stuff.

WOW, you worked really hard. I am doing the same thing right now, all of my courses are on the USC classes guide thing. After two semesters at my JC my gpa is 3.67. Is that pretty good, I am gonna be working even harder at summer school and in the fall? What are they looking for in an applicant? When you get there are you going to have to take classes that are not film related? Is there a way to satify all of the unfilm related classes at a JC? I am doing as many as they allow, but are there some that are only to be taken at USC?

Thanks for your time,
Will
