usb or firewire external hard drive for video?

Hello,
I need to pick up an external hard drive for video footage (dvx100a); is it best to get a drive that connects via firewire or can I get away with a drive that connects via usb? (Pardon my ignorance, I'm figuring out all this stuff as I go.)

Mac's USB support has not been sufficient for video. Best to go with FireWire.

But you're on the right track... always use an external drive for media, and avoid keeping your footage on your boot drive.
