Hi Guys,

I'm using a 7D + a 17-55mm 2.8 canon.

We will shoot a Band inside at the studio. Backround: Black.

I made a test today and using ISO 100 oder 200 I can see a lot of noise on the black objects and at the backgound itself.

What to do to solve this???

Please help. I'll not sleep good :=(

hi, thanks. I^'m not at the studio but I can myke a Test at home. Why should be a difference using 160 or 320?

It is said that these are the native ISOs of the camera 160,320,640 etc. and when the camera is shooting non native ISOs it uses gain to achieve them - there is more precise info out there on this subject - search 7d native ISOs.

Also, when you did your test, where the stage lights in operation?

If you want less grain you need to properly light, even when you are at 100 iso. Also 100, 200 ,etc. are the native isos with the intermediate ones using digital gain +/-. So while an iso of 160 will show less apparent "noise" than iso 100 it comes at a cost of losing "dynamic range".

ps. Me personally I would rather have some noise and maintain my full dynamic range rather than the opposite.

+1 on the noise with dynamic range my friend. There is another discussion going on about this noise problem.

Hi Guys!!! Thanks for all replies!

I can not find Native ISOs on the canon page :=( is it 100, 200,300.. or 160,320??

What you mean with "dynamic range"???

We added some haze and looks better. I'll use neat plugin to repair some noise objects. Here some pics from the shooting: http://www.badboyproductions.ch/page5.php

Shot at 100 everytime.
