I have a Marshall VLCD70P-HDMI-PM. In false color mode when I plug in my Canon 7D to the monitor via HDMI I can never seem to get red (100+ IRE) and fusha (<0 IRE) on the false color scale to show up no matter how much I under or overexpose. However, with the camera plugged in via composite (SD) red (100+ IRE) shows up in for the highlights (fuscha doesn't show up) but it gives this awful trailing effect. I got this same issue when I plugged in a DVX100B via composite as well. I e-mailed Marshall Electronics about this and they were very vague and just told me to send it back for inspection. Does anyone else have this issue?! Is it normal and just a problem with the HDSLR signal? I've always had this issue since I purchased the monitor last year and just figured that's how it was supposed to be until I saw Cinema 5D's review of the new Marshall 5" HDMI monitor where it clearly shows red in false color mode.
I am leaving town on Friday so I need to decide today whether to ship this monitor out at my expense. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
PS: Sorry for the upside down pictures...damn iPhone...it gives you an idea of the problem still though.
Here's a before and after picture of the trailing effect issue via SD composite:
