URGENT: Editing 1080i footage on a 720p seq

Hi, would you recommend editing 1080i footage on a FCP 720p sequence?
(the reason: having everything progressive, inclusive titles, transitions and motion)
Thanks

.

I dont think I really understand the question:
You want to edit 1080i footage in a 720p timeline in order to have all the movement be progressive?

Why not just deinterlace the footage in the 1080 timeline? I believe if you want to de-interlace footage it is best to use a program like After Effects or Shake.

I need a real help please.
HVX shoots progressive but the codec is still 1080i (with 2 fields composing the same frame = progressive)
Once the footage is in a 1080i timeline in FCP, despite the look is progressive, the codec is interlaced. So any further motion, transition and title effect WILL be interlaced.
So my question is: is there so much degradation to work in a 720p timeline?
OR: is FCP 5.1.4 capable of working with a 1080p timeline?
Thanks

Sorry mac, but that was exactly what I offered you...

In sequence presets, you can chose 24p/25p depending on where you are, and set field dominance to "none"

All your edits are then progressive.

AND FCP is very much capable of working with 1080p material...

Cheers!
