GH2 Upstream Colour amongst the best films of 2013

This is surprising to me. I find that Netflix get's its rankings right much more often than not, and they give it barely more than 1 star out of 5.

Great film. Thought about it forever afterward. Forgot it was being filmed on a GH2 (the best compliment, IMO, for the camera and the filmmaker). Bravo!

Netflix rankings that you see are based upon what their algorithms compute your opinion of the movie would be, based on viewing habits and how you've ranked similar movies. Considering their algorithm gave "Sharknado" four stars in my viewer, I'd say its highly suspect.

Not a film for everyone but I enjoyed it. Could've been shot on a Flip Mino for all I care. (Upstream Color, that is... Not Sharknado, although I'd be equally concerned what the latter was shot with)

Upstream Color is one of my favorites of 2013, even without the GH2 factor. It was compelling, engrossing, and unique. Beautifully shot. I saw it in the theater and then bought the Blu-ray.

I was going to say the same thing, and how there's a workaround to find the actual average by checking on certain websites, but I just checked and they have changed it now! If you go to the actual movie's page on their website, Netflix now displays BOTH their best guess of what you would rate the movie AND the actual average, and even the number of user ratings they averaged. I'm happy they made this change as it was frustrating to only see their guess and not the average.

For Upstream Color, the average of almost 89,000 users is 3.5 stars, and their best guess for me is 3.6 stars. For Sharknado, the average of almost 181,000 users is 2.7 stars, and their best guess for me is 2.5 stars.
