GH2 Upstream Color, the feature-length film shot on the GH2, is now on Netflix Streaming

I saw it three times at the theater and have bought it on Blu-Ray. I really like it. I can see where it might not be everyone's cup of tea, there is a lot to chew on in the film, but I think it it brilliant.

I loved it. Saw it at the theater and then bought the Blu-ray. It's definitely not for everyone, but I found it to be one of the most exciting films I've seen this year.

The GH2 looked spectacular on the big screen.

I turned it off half way though. Looked great, and was well orchestrated, and Carruth really knows how to build a mood, but it wasnt the mood i was in at the moment. Will give it another go when im feeling existential.

EDIT: also... totally want a GH3 now....

It was shot on a GH2 wasn't it?

Finally came around to watch it yesterday and IMHO it was stunning! The narrative structure is very demanding, and this isn´t a movie you just watch. I can guess a lot of viewers will be put off by this though.
Visually it was just very rich, lots of great shots. I couldn't say if I´d be drawn more into it, if I hadn't known it was shot with the GH2, but since I knew, I was kind of looking out for it.
I have to read more about the making of the movie, but I would say, he didn`t use matching (cine) lenses, because in some (continuity) scenes contrast and overall sharpness changes notably between shots.
This movie really is enlightening, not in saying "see, the GH2 really IS the ultimate indie cine cam - TOLD YA!", but more as in "we all have access to cameras NOW that can help with getting nice cinematography, **** the "next big thing".
Also, many will say again "it´s not the camera, it's the artist", but I'd call BS on that.
This was casted great, looked great both from locations and lighting, props/wardrobe/extras, had an interresting plot - no way this would have the same impact if shot on an iPhone.
No reason to put all this effort in the various aspects of making a feature and then falling short with camera specs.
The camera DOES matter, it's just that having access to a good one or not one isn't the hold up anymore.
GH2, GH3, D7100, C100, FS100, AF100 - all of this cams will make your movie shine - if you nailed the other aspects of filmmaking before hand.

Very very "chewy" film in its allegories... and perhaps some mild irony in our interest in it brought about through brand loyalty and product identification.

I have to admit that I went to see it, the first time, because it was shot on the GH2 and I wanted to see that on the big screen. I went back to the theater two more times, and took folks, to bask in and share the experience of the movie. I think Shane Carruth is a very talented filmmaker and I look forward to his next movie. I believe that "Up Stream Color" is every bit as an accomplished, and enjoyable to me, film as is "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Tree of Life"; both of which have been described as having, "Difficult narratives". When I asked a buddy of mine to go see the flick I described it as "David Lynch meets Terrence Malick"! All he said was, "I'm in". He really liked the movie also.

Just watched a good bit of this movie via netflix, and while initially a bit distracted by the blown out highlights and the pasty skintones of the actors, I must say that content has proved itself king. The acting, cinematography, and scoring is nothing short of spetacular.

Side note: I am so glad that the ones involved in putting together this film chose to tell a story over technical and budget restraints. Much respect!
