The better solution is to request from your shipper to require signature.

Or drive and pickup it up.

That's what we did two weeks ago in Seattle. It was a lot fun carrying a $7400 cam through downtown
 
I have friends that used to work for UPS.
And a couple that still do.
They said don't ever write FRAGILE on the box...or it'll get drop kicked.

I use Fed Ex.

ProMedia Comes Through with Flying Colors

Just want to commend David at ProMedia (the company who sold me the HVX) for handling the UPS debacle with flying colors.

He worked with me to contact UPS and get them to agree to handle shipping to an autohized Panny service center and cover any found damge to the HVX.

Lucily, the camera check out fine. I was also impressed with Joseph at Custom Electronics 901-384-4100 who was very professional and the one who ran tests on the camera.

All in all it was a 3 day turn around so I felt I should give these guys props here...I'd recomnnd working with ProMedia for sure.

"what can brown do for you" has got to be one of the worst slogans I've ever seen. are the marketing people on crack? didn't they watch Resevior Dogs? I actually like my neighborhood UPS man. I guess it depends on the person. I thnk he hates the company though... On a side note, I picked my HVX from the Birns & Sawyer, they had gotten it fresh from the factory in Japan and it had a big gash in the box, so it gets mailed twice in that box before it gets to you.
 
Mine arrived with the box looking great...And a nice scratch on the outside of the LCD screen (Not the screen) Not a major deal, but I told the seller. I suspect it went out of the factory that way. bummer. Still love the the little sucker, though.
