Uploading Hd Footage

Question, If You Didnt Want To Use Your Hd Camera To Upload To The Computer Can You Substitute A Sd Cam, Probably A Stupid Question But I Just Had To Ask
 
You need an HDV camera, or deck, to capture HDV footage. If it's from the XHA1, and it's shot in the 24f or 30f modes, you'll need a Canon HDV camera, Like an A1, G1, H1, HV20, or HV10. If you shoot in SD, you should be able to use any camera to capture your footage.

I had this feeling but needed to ask. I wouldnt mind up grading to hd but a hd deck is about the same cost of an xh a1 so i guess getting a hv20 for $700 would be a cheaper atlternative to the problem. Thanks as always for the input.
