uploading footage

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but i'll lay it out there...

I'm new to the HVX, coming from the DVX....anyway, i bought the panasonic P2 card reader, and i'm running a 64 gb P2 card. Onto my laptop, using the above, with a card of full footage, it is taking about an hour to transfer over (via copy and paste into a new folder on my HDD) the footage on the P2 card.

is this right, or am i doing something wrong? I'm just wondering how this is going to take place during a full shoot (doing my second feature this spring), and trying to get all of the kinks worked out right now.

BTW, it's a new Acer laptop, I3 processor, 4 gb RAM...

Thanks everone! You rock!

64GBs of footage via USB2 sounds to be about an hour.

750 GBs via SATA, which is significantly faster ran me about two hours if there is some comparison.

thanks...i just didnt know if i was doing something wrong, or if this was pretty normal. It was over 2 hours to go to my external via laptop, so i think i'll stick the footage on laptop and then move it over later....this'll allow me the P2 card! :)

Thanks again for your help!
