Uploaded (List)

What a nightmare this has been. If it weren't for the grace of Jarred's extensions for upload, we wouldn't be in it at all. I'm not sure if we'll do an HD uprezz to the footage next time ... at least not until AFTER my system can handle it. Litterally had to take the film in ITTY BITTY BITE sized chunks to render it all, then place it all in one master project. Also had to do multiple renders of the same section, to add the layered FX, as it wouldn't render with them all (40+ tracks, over 20 of which were video w/1280x720 HD images) into one SD image.

Many days later, my day job taking a hammering with all the hours I've put into this, I'm glad to say that we're finally submitting. Hopefully it's not too late, as it's only uploading at 41kb/second, and for 262MB, it's saying it'll take 1:45 to upload ... which will put me a HAIR past midnight.

Now to see if I can render out our 8.5 min DVD version, and get that uploaded as well.

The best thing to look forward to in our short (waltind & I partnered on it)? ... the Score. Chris Rojas (RMI Studios) did a fantastic job with it, and also did the stereo mix/balance of all the audio tracks.

Oh, our film's called PANDORA.

Glad you got yours in -- really looking forward to it.

I was kind of timing myself by you actually so now I'm REALLY sweatin' it.

I've got 15 video tracks and 40 audio tracks -- no HD but my powerbook is choking on my uprezzed timelin with Magic BUllet (vers 2 is supposed to render faster on Macs -- hmmm)

-- in fact --- trashed my FCP prefs to try to get some speed for some last minute CC tweaking and now eveyrthing is re-rendering and quoting four a four hour render time

hopefully I'll finish and get it it tonight before the J Man awakes on West Coast

Hey, glad you guys got in!!! Really happy you finally got your issue fixed Norm! Totally looking forward to your film. Also looking forward to your's Jack!

Edit: Can I get the title of your film Jack?

One of the side things about this contest, its also an excersize in time management. Just think how prepared you will be for the next one. For me, i learned to get the hard shots out of the way first which i did and was able to float through the rest.

Hey guys, did another update! We only need ten more titles to finish up what we have on the list! Lookin' great!

Briceman , good to see your on top of things .I went to send you my Title and you already got it .
Funny you can watch your short so many times and at that crucial moment( Re- deadline) you notice a Major clitch .
This to my son and I sure stood out like a sore thumb . But thanks to the extended deadline we submitted the fix issue .
Our short is far from perfect . The weather was very unpredictable this year .Some scenes didn't match any more due to the lack of snow or the High winds , the rain /freezing rain or the Sub Zero temps all played havoc with us .

We didn't want to miss this Sci Fi so we plugged away and did the best we could .
Sure nice to see so many submissions .

Glad to see you squeezed in Envision and jstandan . Looking forward to see your shorts .

Now the waiting game .

Yeah dude, trying to keep things up to speed! I can totally understand and sympathize about having issues with weather and such. The one day we chose to shoot all exteriors it decided to rain!! HAHA! Anyway, it's great to see so many people be able to complete their shorts and look forward to seeing them all!!

I made it in for the second deadline atleast. lol Of course I then found mistakes in mine too. Good thing we had an extension on the extension so I could re-upload a fix. Bt I'm sure I still haven't gotten everything. I just don't want to watch it anymore. :( :)

There are a ton of edits I could do. Even a re-do of an effect...which, quite frankly, suck as it is. (And is anything ever really finished?) But I wouldn't feel right doing it.

Is it possible to upload a new version of the shortfilm that fixes the problems that the uploaded shortfilm has?

I believe the ftp is closed. Also, if you just are content with the one you uploaded, maybe Jarred can get them up quicker, than if people keep wanting to change the version. I'm with GenJerDan. There are changes I'd like to make, but it's not gunna make a huge difference in if someone likes or doesn't like my film.
