Upload clips directly from GH1 to youtube now

Well it seems that youtube has done some upgrading and where they would not take my files before, I can now upload a .mts clip straight off of the GH1 and it works!

This is great if you just have to do a quick block about something or send a friend or family member something without all the importing transcoding, recompression kaka that usually goes along with it.

It even seems liek youtube correctly removed pulldown from my 1080p clip:

I'm not sure they're removing the pulldown. It's hard to tell but if I try to step through the frames one by one by repeatedly clicking the play/pause button I can find some frames that appear to have interlacing artifacts.

Does anyone know a better way to step through the frames of a youtube video one at a time?

I can't tell. I tried freezing frames and couldn't see any interlace frames, just motion blur.

Anyway it looks pretty fantastic for youtube and it's a quick way to upload right from the camera.

I downloaded the 1080p mp4 from youtube. The framerate plays back at 29.97 fps. I've gone through some sections of the footage frame by frame and I do not see any interlacing, though I do detect some aliasing. The footage has a repeating pattern in the frames. 4 frames will play with fluid motion, then the 5th frame will be a duplicate of the 4th frame, and this repeats all throughout the footage.

removing pulldown isn't de-interlacing footage. it's extracting 24 progressive frames for a 60i source. you can de-interlace the 60i footage, but it won't be 24p.

Thanks for the Tip Blackout.

I'm uploading as I type.

I'm psyched 'cause I've really not been able to do anything with my clips because of software/hardware problems processing the AVCHD but I've been wanting to get some of what I shot out there for people to look at, even if I can't tweak it in an editor yet.

Yeah after a closer look I see that it just de-interlaced but did not remove pulldown and I do see that stutter now that I'm looking for it but my non image geek human friends can't see it and are awe inspired by the quality coming off of youtube.
