C100: Upgrade from T2i to C100... what kit can I move across???

Heyo everyone,

Recently things have started moving really fast. I upgraded all of my kit for my T2i... lenses, ND, shoulder rig, tripods... all with the intention of upgrading in the near future. I'm now working with someone who is getting some really decent audio gear soon and I want to upgrade my camera pretty soon I think. I was always thinking that maybe I'd go for the 5d, mk ii or iii, but the more I think about it the more I realise that they're basically the same as my t2i but better in low light.

SOOO, I think once I've saved up some money I would like to go for the c100. The images that I've seen from that thing are beautiful and I would definitely get it over the 5dmkiii.

I'm wanting to know what of these things I can take from my T2i and use straight away on a c100 if I were to upgrade... I can't really afford to upgrade all these things straight away considering I'm going to have to skrimp and save in order to get just the c100 body.

I have a Zacuto Z-finder. I love it. From what I can tell theviewfinder on the c100 is a strange design, but can I use the z-finder on it? What if I use a sticky mount?

APS-C lenses? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have a few APSC only lenses. I don't mind selling them, but if they do work on the c100 then I'm going to have a large range of glass to choose from.

And also, what are the filse sizes like in comparison to the T2i/5d?

Thanks people

Just finished a mammoth 9 day shoot with a C100 and a 550D/T2i. The T2i was the master timelapse camera, generated beautiful results. The C100 was recording 'as it happens' material, no rehearsals and no take-twos. Mostly on the 24-105, but swapping out to 17-55 2.8 and 70-200 4IS more times than I'd like. But all results totally worth it. I had an EX1-R on standby. Very capable camera, superb in R&G event work, but the C100 was impressive for its 'look' over Sony, though I'd really like a gain and WB switch on the outside as 'weebling' through the menus with its joystick was a bit slow.

APS-C lenses - some show a little vignetting (darkening of corners), though the C100 can compensate for that. I put the command into my 'Special' menu so I can dial it in if I want - or have time - to. It really isn't a problem.

Hey, it's a Canon camera. Canon lenses work just fine. I was swapping between Tokina 11-16, Canon 17-55, Canon 24-105 and Canon 70-200 f4 - and use the Sigma 50mm 1.4 with it a lot too. They all work between the C100 and the 550D/T2i beautifully.

File sizes are almost half the size: 24 Mbps means 80-90 mins in 16 GB. Rather than 45 mins in the T2i. I'm better off with the C100 rushes. Better quality, smaller, easier to back up and archive.

Zacuto may relent and provide a sort of upgrade path for Z-finder owners that are now C100 owners, but there may be some flaws to that logic. Somehow, I think there's a new round of VFs that will fit better.

I have to say, though, that I was using the built-in screen at a sort of 'overhead' height an awful lot. If I had a VF on there, it would have to snap off pretty quick to be really useful.

Half the size? That's amazing. I'm still very much in the learning phase about the technical aspects of videos, especially codecs and file types which more often than not goes straight over my head.

I have recently purchased the Tamron 24-70 VC 2.8, which is an FF lens, and I absolutely love it, so that would be my go-to in most of the stuff I do. I also have a few OM lenses from an old 35mm, a couple of Zuikos in there that seem super sharp. Any ideas how this would hold up? Also a Tamron 70-300 and a Sigma 10-20, both APS-C... not the greatest lenses, but it seems they will come out fine with the c100 considering it's ability at high ISO.

I do love the photography of my t2i, so maybe I'll hang onto it for timelapse like you said. II really do love having the ability to switch between stills and movies on my t2i. Considering I aim to be doing some film work whilst travelling for a few months I'm considering the pros and cons of this switch.

As for VF's, any idea on where I can find some more information? With the LCD having a slight upwards tilt when it's closed, I can't imagine the z-finder would have the right angle for comfortable use.
