Upcoming Africa Shoot

Hey Guys,

I am going to Africa in June to film a promotional video/documentary for a client of mine. Any tips on what I can use to improve the production value of the shoot? I am fairly new to shooting my own stuff. The video is pretty much a documentary with images of the African people with a narrator. Do you think a 35mm Adapter would be worth it? I will be basically a one man crew, so I don't think we will have much of a lighting kit or anything. I know I can change the preset of the camera and have played with Vivid RGB, are there any other presets that you guys think would work well?? Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Find a sound guy or get a good microphone + shockmount and wind protection. There's nothing more unprofessional than bad sound. You probably don't want a 35mm adapter as those takes a while to put on and with rod supports and monitor tends to make the camera too heavy for run and gun work.

I think you will love the color with vivd preset. I also use the panalook, natural. i agree with jade you will need a good mic and clean your camera daily cuz of dust. You are going to love africa and have a safe trip and happy shooting.
