" No 4k, not even 60p..."

Thats like saying....my dump truck didn't even come with a Porshe engine. They are two completely different things.

This has been covered in depth. This camera is NOT intended to be geared towards video capture.

Negative implications about this just reveals lack of general knowledge about the product.

Youll get those specs ...just not from this specialized camera. I suggest you read the other threads.

The Samsung NX500 isn't a DSLR. I know- nitpicking, but this post is ignorant so I thought I would just pile on.

OK, it's not a DSLR, but the distinction is irrelevant for video shooters. Apart from that, how is that post ignorant? It's basically just two links and a spec sheet. Oh, I see, because it points to someone doing things better than Canon right now, then it's ignorant...

By the way, a new FF Ricoh/Pentax that is to be announced at the CP+ and released (much?) later this year is supposed to add the pixel shifting tech to a high MPX sensor, so it could even break the 100 MPX barrier in a still mode (pure speculation on my part, using the 16 MPX Olympus analogy that is using pixel shifting to improve its resolution by 2 1/2 times to 40 MPX).

Yes, exactly. It is just posting specs. One would have to assume that the OP thinks it is self explanatory that Samsung is doing things better than Canon right now, as you just stated. That is ignorant because it is ignorant of the camera market. People who like DSLR's tend to like them because a mirror gives them an unfettered view of their composition without pixels and a screen. For photographers, there is a pretty big distinction between a tiny mirrorless APS-C camera and a full frame DSLR with 50 Mp. Completely different markets. It would be like posting the specs of the NEX500 to it's page with a link to the 5DS and the comment "No 50MP, specs below". It's ignorant and misunderstands the market.

Canon could just have easily left video out of the 5DS altogether and it would hardly affect it's sales. There's a chance that they could have added 4K and it might have added a slight initial bump to their sales, but I really doubt they could have done it without affecting the photographic capabilities of the camera or increase the price of the camera to accommodate the need for increased processing power and heat removal. Even then, the 4K implementation would probably have been poor with poor lowlight and the sales would have just taken a hit anyway. It's ignorant to assume that a DSLR's sales or design is necessarily dependent on it's video features.

You are inferring somebody else's intents, and, based on that, callilng their posts ignorant. I think you're out of line. If you want to state an opinion, you can do so, but please be a bit more respectful towards what other people haven't even said. The link I posted has a lot stronger arguments and no harsh words.

BTW, as you'll see on the other thread, aggree that the 5Ds is a camera purely for photogs. But I didn't insult anyone, I think.

Samuel, you're right. I directed a negative and snarky comment towards Ken who was trolling the Canon forum. I probably should have just let the thread die as any troll's comment should die, but it is a pet peeve of mine that video people are ignorant about the term DSLR. It is obvious that he is trolling because their was no possible point in the post except to attack Canon. As an attack, however, it was ignorant because it completely misunderstands the camera market. I have now explained why it was ignorant and you point out that it has been shown to be ignorant in other threads. You, yourself, were the one that inferred that he was trying to make a claim that Samsung was producing better products than Canon. He never stated that. He just posted some specs. I just stated his use of the term DSLR was ignorant and that the post, and thereby, a comparison was ignorant. Perhaps it is my continuous use of the word "ignorant" that you find offensive. "Ignorant" means "lacking knowledge or awareness in general". It is the correct term to use in this context. It does, I admit, have a negative connotation, but I don't know why I should show a troll any respect in my choice of adjective. Pretty much any comments about the merits of Canon cameras in these forums have long ago lost any sense of respectability.

As a side note, I am a Canon user but I am not a Canon fanboy. It's strange to me that I've been shoved into the role defending Canon.

All is right then.

My summary about video shooters and the 50Mpix Canons: "These are not the cameras you're looking for."

Yay, more stuck pixels guys! :cheesy:

In all seriousness though... I don't think I could justify bassically buying the same camera if I already had a MkIII.
