Uninstalling raylight (for mac)?

Hey all,

I installed Raylight for Mac a couple of weeks ago to try out the software. While I do like it quite a bit, I don't have the money currently to spare on the program. (If you didn't know already, the demo only allows you to watch 30 seconds of footage before it stops)

Anyway, now that I've installed it, when I go into p2CMS to replay some of my footage which I had been doing for quite some time without fail, it stops after 30 seconds of playback!

What gives? I've been looking around online everywhere to find a way to uninstall Raylight for Mac, but I can't seem to find its support files. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Removing Raylight on Mac

Raylight for Mac is self contained, there are no system files that get installed. You can simply drag the Raylight application folder to the trash. You can also drag the folder /Users/Shared/Raylight to the trash to remove settings files and output files that may have been created.

Any clips that were created by the Raylight demo will still work without Raylight installed. By default those clips end with mxf.mov. The 30 second limitation is built in to those quicktime link files.

If this doesn't explain the problem you are experiencing feel free to email us using the form HERE.

Hey same problem here since yesterday! Cannot play more that 30 seconds of an MXF in the viewer, same in FCP.

I connected my external drive to my laptop who also have the P2CMS (1.3) application and was able to play the entire clip. I try to uninstall the P2CMS apps (1.4) on my other machine to step back to the version 1.3 and was unable to do it. I have the message ''cannot install the application because an higher version is on your drive'' !!? Everything was deleted!

@Doctabu; did you found a solution ? Version 1.4 was working perfectly for me for few weeks.

I don't know if there something to do with this application http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/finalcutstudio/calibratedqmxfimport.html I installed it few days ago.

Thanks for your help!!

I didn't end up finding a solution, unfortunately. Getting rid of the raylight files didn't seem to solve the problem, but that Calibrated{Q} MXF Import thing you linked to looks really familiar—I wouldn't be surprised if I had installed it.

If that's the case, I wonder if that's the root of the problems...

I'll update if I figure it out!

Ok, I just tried to open the MXF files in Adobe Premiere CS3 and that work normally.

Only P2CMS and Final Cut Pro cannot play the MXF more then 30 seconds. I also notice that the MXF files listed into the bin in FCP have a maximum duration of 00:00:29:22 !!

It indicate that the Calibrated MXF Importer 1.6 application from Apple might be part of the problem. The question is How to fix this : (

I figured out the problem, and of course, THIS WAS NOT RAYLIGHT'S FAULT. It was the Calibrated MXF Importer. Here's the PDF I found to help me out:

http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/downloads/ReadMe-Calibrated%7BQ%7DMXFImport.pdf

More specifically:

To Uninstall:

1. If Licensed, backup CalibratedComponent.lic file to a temp directory.

2. If no other Calibrated Software is installed, then delete the directory:
/Applications/Calibrated

3. If other Calibrated Software is installed, then only delete:
a. /Applications/Calibrated/Applications/Options/CalibratedQMXFOptions.app
b. /Applications/Calibrated/Plugins/QuickTime/CalibratedMXFQ.component
c. /Applications/Calibrated/Docs/CalibratedQMXFOptions.pdf
d. /Applications/Calibrated/Docs/ReadMe-Calibrated{Q}MXFImport.pdf

4. Delete the file:
/Library/QuickTime/CalibratedMXFQ.component

5. Delete the file:
/Library/QuickLook/CalibratedMXFQL.qlgenerator (Leopard Only)

6. Delete the file:
/Users/[user]/Library/Preferences/com.calibratedsoftware.CalibratedMXFQ.plist

Fixed my issue; had to reinstall the p2 drivers & p2cms (one of the two worked, can't figure out which one) and restart my computer, but I was back in business.

...Now I'm just trying to talk myself into spending $150 on Raylight...
