Unformat P2 Card?

I've run into a bit of an emergency after unintentionally formatting a P2 Card in my HVX. Is there anything that can be done to "unformat" it? I've write protected the card, and not recored any new data to it since the accident. However, I've tried a suite of read-only data recovery programs such as Get Data Back, and none of them have been able to recover the data.

Has anyone had any success solving this problem?

If there were any app in the world that could recover that data, it would be SpinRite from GRC. But even then I doubt it. Good luck.

SpinRite attempts to recover data from unreadable sectors on hard drives, it has no facilities for recovering deleted files or formatted volumes.

Furthermore, the techniques that SpinRite uses are not applicable to non-harddrive media. The way that SpinRite attempts to recover data from unreadable sectors is by bypassing the ECC algorithms on the drive and controller, and by reading data from adjacent tracks just prior to trying to read the problematic sector. The idea is that this will cause the read/write head to approach the problematic sector from slightly different angles, possibly allowing it to be read.

SpinRite will furthermore do a statistical analysis of the data read by a large number of read attempts. If it doesn't successed reading the sector without ECC errors, it will use the data values returned most frequently.

IBAS in Norway does this on a regular basis, they have offices all over the world.

BUT they are expensive.

As long as you haven't re-used your card, you're good, and some people have discovered that even when you have, you're not safe....

My attitude is if they can undelete it, why can't we?
We have a lot of the same tools. I am able to "see" the data clearly sitting there. I can also image the .bmps just fine sitting there.
The FAT is hosed BUT I have a great idea I am trying as now this has happened to be in the 16 GIG size of the nightmare. Panasonic.... what are you waiting for.... doing some thing about this. This P2 card stuff is going into my hoojie equipment pile soon. I cant afford to have footage go unreadable over a stupid button press.

For those who have asked, I used GET DATA BACK FOR FAT to see this stuff. If you ahvent formatted it twice you have a shot at getting it back quite easily.

Lol. It's hardly Panasonic's fault. You have to press several buttons in order to commit to a format... I really don't see how it could be done accidentally.
