GH2 Underwater/Splash Housing for GH2

Greetings all...

I had a custom water housing built for my HVX by Jim Bailey at www.waterhousings.com and I'm going to talk to him this upcoming week about building a custom housing for my GH2. He can pretty much built it to whatever specs and lens and all of that jazz. I just thought I'd put it out there as Jim has done a group price for me before when we had 4 of them built at the same time. If you are looking for a unique super strong and easy to operate housing for the GH2 then let me know and I'm sure we can do a great package deal. He really specializes in the surface and splash housings that are good for up to 40'.. Of course he can also make deep water housings as well and at a fraction of the Gates prices. I think that the housing for my GH2.. will be around 850, but I'm sure if I get him like 4 or 5 people to have ones built, we could get it down to about 600 or so.

I'm also going to have mine built to accomodate a variety of lense with the controls that I really know that I'm going to use all the time... So hit me up or post here if you are interested in the options and want something really tricked out or scaled back.. You could easily have something built to just have one knob, one start and stop... cheers.

I'm interested for GH1, should be the same just the thumb knob that is different AFAIK. Splash housing only needed, with a strong 5/16 tripod mount on the bottom. Accommodate 14 - 140 kit lens but not at full tele extension, about halfway will do.

I'm curious as well-GH1. But, i've seen with the go pro hd that there is a separate flatter lens that screws into the housing to correct for the errors inherent when shooting under water. How would you compensate for this with the GH camera's and lenses?? Or, is it really necessary.
Rambooc1; I know you use go pro's a lot for some of your stuff-have you tried the new under water lens for the housing??? I'm looking to get some under water shots of jet ski's racing, from a depth of between 5 and 10 feet, with no distortion from the water. I'm positive the go pro will do the job...but, the GH1 opens up a whole new realm for underwater photography due to the size of the sensor and good high iso capabilities.

No the after market flat lenses all vignette on the GoPro so i made my own that doesn't vignette even at R3 170 degrees. The photos and the resulting video is here. GoPro is a fixed focus cameras, the GH1/2 can be focus adjusted so no issue with Flat or Curved port.

Pretty nice. I'm going to talk to jim and see what he can make and what kind of price we'll be talking about. He usually requests the camera and lenses for the construction, but if I'm getting a housing then I'd loan my camera for the manufacturing. I'll let you all know. For lenses, I'm considering the 20mm 1.7 and the 7-14mm and maybe the 14-140.

Sorry for the delay... Yep, I'm going to work with Jim on producing some housings for the GH2. Send me an IM if you are interested. He'll be making 6 of them to start with and 2 are already taken.... Should be a great housing for cheap.... A real work of art as well.
