acceptable for studio setups, but starts getting wonky when you are doing field work, run and gun, or just about any situation where you have less control in your environment. computer capture is used all the time, but isn't bullet proof. software crashes, drives slow down and drop a frame, etc. not saying it happens all the time, i'm sure a lot of ppl do it with a lot of success. but a device designed to do only one thing, and one thing only typically in my experience works better.
