Uncompressed HD file

So I was over at the Syndicate's blog and noticed they created a 7D tool that allows you to capture 7D files from cam via HDMI into a Matrox mini and Mac.

Now I thought this idea was great when they first mentioned they were able to pull this off but after seeing their workflow and the fact that it wasn't fully Mac compatible, not to mention all of the other items you'd need to even pull this capture off, I thought it was :2vrolijk_08: of them to charge over $400 for it.

Within this tool you still have to manually remove the RED DOT, you have to have another PC in order to run their script, that you have to manually drag each and every file into a command line for it to create the 24p file. Its just too much work for them to attempt to charge that much for so little improvement in overall image quality.

If you begin to add the elements into the equations to get a good overall price at what your 7D setup would cost in order to get uncompressed HD your close to what the RED SCARLET is rumored to be, once it drops. Which is close to $4K for a complete kit.

So Syndicate if you are listening your 7D tool although a great novelty becomes nothing more than an additional cost, in order to obtain a sub par HD image from the 7D.

I'll stick with its native compressed image at the moment, instead of spending another $400 (Matrox mini), $400 (Syndicate 7D tool) ~$800 (PC Laptop) and all of the time it would take me to hassle with the actual conversion.

What do you guys think, am I out of line for thinking this tool is only worth about $100 in its current state or, is it worth $400?

By the way here it is so you guys can be the judge of what your paying for what your getting out of it.
