GH13 unable to use shutter button after fixing broken lug

I searched the forum and was not able to find any mention of my problem so... I fixed a broken lug (one broke off leaving the nut inside my camera). Since I put the GH13 back together the shutter button will not work. I am able to take pictures using my remote release cord and the movie button on the back works fine, just the the shutter button has stopped working.

I can use the GH1 for video as is, but it would be nice to be able to take a jpeg without the remote cable on occasion. Does anyone know what I messed up putting the camera back together and if there an easy or simple fix to this? I have a GH2 and another GH1, this is my backup GH13, but it is red and I love the color, so I would love to have it fully functioning again. LOL!

Thank you in advance. Bill

The exact same thing happened to me. I took mine into International camera in Chicago and they fixed it for $150 In my case, I needed a part ordered. I've read on other forums that their issue was a detached wire that they were able to reconnect using snub nose pliers. Good news - it can be fixed but if you're not up to the task, seek professional help.
Best of luck!

This happened to me when I fixed the lug nut. There's a small ribbon cable connecting the shutter button that can slip out. It's tricky, but using a tweezer I slipped the ribbon cable back in and the shutter button works again.

I suffered this problem too. Because my GH13 haven't got warranty, I decided to dismantle it almost completly to pick the nut and fix with glue. As jleo said, probably ribbon cable sliped out.

The shutter cable is in the top front part of the camera. The service manual is confusing. Just follow the path of the shutter button to find the cable.

Also when glueing the lug nuts, I added cotton from a cotton swab into the glue to make the bond stronger.
