unable to import Canon 60D movies into FCP???

I have the latest FCP plugin for Canon, so I had no trouble importing from my 7D movies into FCP.

But I my Canon 60D doesn't even show up on my macbook pro desktop. I'm able to import photos from my 60D into iPhoto, so why isn't my 60D showing up in the FCP Log and Transfer window??? The disk icon isn't even showing up on my desk top. And the Canon EOS utility says "Error, camera is not recognized" Any reason for this???

Strangely enough even in the 60D operating manual it says nothing about copying to a computer. Just playing back images.
I just need to know how to copy my 60D movie files into FCP.

Thanks very much in advance for any help.

Are you connecting the camera to the computer? Or just the SD card. If you're using the camera, don't, and use a card reader instead.

Understood. But now I'm using only my Promaster SDHC card reader and although the drive now shows up on the desk top, a window pops up stating:

"No images on the memory card meet the download conditions."

I don't understand. I formatted the card before I inserted it into the 60D. I then went out and shot 5 or 6 movies at 1080p24, shutter speed 1/50. I'm doing nothing different to the way I shot with my 7D, and I'm unable to copy any movies from my 60D to FCP.

Hmm, interesting. I've never had this happen to me before. Do you have both still images and movies on the one card? There can be problems with the card if you have both types of files on it. Other factors could be the brand of card you're using as well as a faulty card reader.

Strange though because that same card never gave me any problems for the last year while I used it on my Panasonic GH1. I thought after formatting the card there would be no problem.

Here's what I don't understand. All my 60D movie files show up as ".mov" files in my "100Canon" folder within the "DCIM" folder. I can drag and drop them all to the desktop. But when I drop them into FCP manually, they show up as "AVC1" codec files on my timeline.

When I open my Log and Capture window, no files whatsoever show up.

I'm completely lost here. This is very frustrating. Why would the EOS plugin work perfectly for 7D and not at all for the 60D. At least in my case.

I'm running the latest edition of FCP7 and the latest EOS plugin. I don;t know what to do at this stage. I think I'm going to go out and buy another SDHC card.

I'm currently using a SanDisk Extreme 30Mbps 32GB SDHC card. Never had a problem offloading from it until today.

Having the same 60D issue

Having the same 60D issue

Hey man, did you ever figure this problem out? I had a multi- camera shoot the other day using 5D 7D and 60D. I have all of my footage digitized, but when I get to my 60D SDHC card, my Mac Pro doesn't even see it.

I've run into a wall and don't know what to do. Did you ever find the source of the problem? Thanks!

There's another thread on this problem. It has to do with the plugin. It is for a 7d and not for the 60d. The solution in the thread I think was to edit some kind of configuration file so that it accepts the 60d. Do a thread search.

I have the same problem. for three days, I've been trying everything. I ended up importing into imovie 25p pal and then importing that into fcp. It all worked fine until I had to export it, and all the sound is outa whack. any help out there?

I use mpeg streamclip, which handles my different cams fine.

I ran into too many problems with that plugin so I switched to streamclip.
