Viewsonic VPD400 and 500 media players released

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/vpd400.htm

Unveiled in Sydney yesterday

http://www.current.com.au/2009/11/13/article/XBKEPGJAVC.html

RRP $AU249 for 400 - $US139 for 400 - which makes no damn sense
given the current exchange rate, but oh well.

4.3" TFT LCD 800X480 pixels.

The only connection (that I can gather it has) is USB. No HDMI. Maybe
the computer tech smart could do something with this.

We must be close (months away) from getting a very cheap, quality device from
a major manufacturer that can be used as an on-camera monitor.

Well, there's LCD4Video - you can get a monitor for about $250, and they now have panny & sony battery packs. They're not amazing screens, but if you have a crane, they're priceless for the $$. They come with a mount, cable, battery, and hood.
