I created this video walk through guide for setting up stable settings using the Ptool program to adjust your cameras firmware.

The intent of the guide is to give new users a simple and straight forward guide for using the Ptool program to setup their camera. It shows you step by step how to download and update your cameras firmware.

Thanks mpgxsvcd for this and the ton of other great info vids you have posted. I updated my cam with these settings after trying Sanity with the new hack. The problem I was having was the files would hang in playback on my mac using VLC about 10 seconds into the 40 sec. vids. They playback fine on the camera. The original Sanity hack (1.0 firmware) played fine. I'm having the same problem with the new NO Adverse settings - vlc freezes 10 sec. into vid but cam. playback is fine. I'm using a new Sandisk 30mbs 16 gig card. Any suggestions?

That is a problem with VLC. Try downloading the newest version of VLC. They just updated it when I put out this video.
 
Thanks for the tip - I got the new version 2 but it's actually worse than the older version (1.?). The video freezes 2 seconds into it and starts to break up. Mac Bluray player does a better job but freezes just before the end at around 39 seconds. My machine is fairly new - 2 yrs. old with a 2.8 intel core 7 and 8 gbs of memory. WOndering if this is what to be expected with the hack of is it just an isolated case?

All hacked footage has problems with VLC sometimes. There are fixes but I forgot where I saw them.
 
Please make sure you download the latest version of ptools every time you update your cameras firmware. Some features are not supported with older versions of ptools.
 
I did use the latest version - but I think it's just a VLC problem. It can't handle any of the hacked stuff. All plays fine viewing in iMovie and Final Cut so no worries for now.
