ufo and canon 7d

Not bad, one thing I will say is that the lighting looks too much on it. If you look at everything else in the scene, it looks overcast, and with overcast the lighting is going to be more ambient and less directional like you have. Also, the sharpness of the craft is less than the rest of the scene. Additionally, I am not seeing the motion blur I would expect from the camera movements.

Here is a little trick I learned.

1) Shoot the scene on a tripod, and wider than you want.

2) Zoom in the shot and composite the space craft into the shot, but still, the shot still.

3) Take handheld footage, of something different that has something you can motion track into AE. Even like a piece of black on a wall or something. Run the motion track on that in AE and then apply the transforms to your zoomed in footage that was shot stable. Turn on motion blur on that as well.

4) Profit!

What Rick said.

And yeah, the lighting could use some refinement, also motion blur - try global illumination and a good engine.
Also the UFO is too sharp (even on Youtube) you need to match it a bit better to the footy.

There is a plugin or script somewhere that does some funky color channel operations like simulating debayering - that helps a lot to bolt it in DSLR footage more seamless.
(Sorry I forgot the name - but it´s somewhere on http://aescripts.com/)

I thought the UFO was too soft myself, compared to where it was located in the frame. But I think it is because the darkness underneath is too dark, given the light reflectivity that would happen between it and the ground. The trucks are so dark underneath because of how little room there is between the truck and the ground.

Frank, I would LOVE to know what that plugin is. I have been looking for one so I could simulate debayering AND translate 3D footage into 4:2:0 so it fits in better with the source material. If you happen to remember, let me know! I tried searching there but didn't find anything either.
