kool charity.

only gripe would be the quality of the upload. seems you need to try to get a better encoding formular...it was blurry. what program do you edit with?

Thanks for the reply!

I was just thinking the same... I'm on sony vegas 8 pro, I tried to do an uprez to 720... I think I failed lol

PS. I really liked your Rally vid

NEW VIDEO IS HERE

Im uploading a new viersion. I figured out that I had 'smart resampling' enabled in Sony Vegas. I also decided to bump the bit rate up to 5000kbps for this new render while dropping the rez to 720x480

cool i'll check it out.

thanks for the Rally comment also :)

edit: so i checked it out...it does look a little better. do u remember what shutter you were using?

Oh I have not uploaded the new one yet, but it looks better to me. Anyways, I was having a problem with the shutter speed and iris, because it was VERY VERY bright out and I left my UV filter at home. I believe some shots are at 1/200 1/48 and maybe one more lol. *As I am just learning how to use the DVX and the whole filming world too

lol...goes to show how the brain works eh. thought it was it cuz it said new vid....well holla when the new one is up.

aslo check out a Fader ND filter. it allows you to get between 3-9 stops of nd filter at the turn of the filter so u can shoot whatever iris and shutter u want . check ebay. I wanna get one. gonna get the 77mm and step up rings so i can use it on my dvx and 7d when i have $$ to get one.

they also have the ultra fader ND but i dont think i'll need that much ND

Oh actually you are right, that one that says new is new... it is uprezed to 720p

Thanks for the filer suggestion ill have a look. What is your set up... or what were you shooting with/adding color to your rally film?

NEW NEW ONE (LOL 5500kbps and 720x480, still with 'smart resampling' on, forgot to take it off...gr) http://vimeo.com/9553088

I have a custom scene file for that vid. but i cant remember the camera settings offhand. then in post i use levels/three way corrector/ brightness and contrast to tweak tthe colours. I'm used to finding a look close to what i want in the camera and then tweaking in post. However i'm going to start shooting very flat with these settings

detail: -4
Detail coring: +7
master ped: + 4
Cinelike D
vertical frequency thin
skin tone: off

and evrything else zero so i can have a really flat high dymanic range (much like RED) to go into post with to colour grade.

what i think you should do for that vimeo vid is take down the first 2...and reupload the new uprezzed one so it can get HD treatment. U get one HD vid a week. All my vids (or most) get the HD treatment cuz i upload one per week. If u have vimeo plus though there are no restrictions.

Thanks for all that info.

So maybe it is just me but I didn't really notice the quality difference in the uprez video. I am just selecting a different rez (1280x720) when i choose to render, is that how you do it?

I'm about to render my final draft with these settings.
Sony AVC (.mp4), NTSC widescreen
Audio: 128 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, Stereo, AAC.
Video: 6.0 Mbps, 29.970 fps, 720x480
Field Order: Upper Field First
Pixel Aspect: 1.2121

I shot in 24p, but something happened when I captured to my HDD, One file says 24p and the other says 30p (The files got split cause I ran out of room on hdd) and they are exactly the same scene. So idk whats going on there but didn't notice till I basically done.

I made some minor corrections and I am doing a Final Render. Should be on Vimeo later tonight hopefully. Should I do the uprez to HD keep SD? What are the pros and cons if any?

Thanks

well personally when i uprezz it with the settings i have in the link i provided it looks better than the sd upload.
