When using two mics on the A1, does it record onto two seperate channels or merge the sound?
Assuming it does use two channels, when I import it into an NLE (in my case PP2.0) will the video clip automatically be associated with two audio clips?
Flip the switch on the side of the A1, to CH1, this will record two mics to two seperate channels. If you flip the switch to CH1/2, it will record the mic plugged into channel 1 to both channels. When you import into Premiere, your video clip will have 1 audio track, with the right being one mic, and the left being the other. Just duplicate the audio track, then drag the audio effect "Fill right" to one track, then drag "fill left" to the other. Now each mic has it's own audio track and you can adjust them independently of each other.
On a side not, if you are using two mics, try to avoid using auto levels. A quick example would be, you have a wireless mic on a groom, and a shotgun on camera, you walk away from the groom to shoot something else. Everytime he talks, auto levels will lower the level of your shotgun to accomodate the wireless levels. So you will end up with an audio track from the shotgun that raises and lowers. Just a tip free of charge.
