TV Logic VFM-056 5.6" HD LCD Monitor Group Buy

Got my TV Logic today...it's AWESOME.

One of the major things that tipped the scales for me over another monitor (but not he single issue) was that it allowed you to overlay aspect markers on the screen and set opacity for the matte like the RED LCD. That's incredible helpful when shooting in an aspect like 2.35. No more gaffer tape on an expensive monitor :P

Until I figure out a powering solution for the entirety of my kit, I have the AA bracket on the monitor which powers it for a few hours per set of 6. Not a bad deal all things considered. Also I got the Hoodman that's made for the RED LCD and it works perfectly. The only pain I see here so far is how the HDMI cable sticking out the bottom of the LCD is making it a bit of a pain to move my Noga Arm around at times, and also the on/off switch and main menu buttons on the back are covered by the Hoodman elastic straps. I can still hit them without having to go under the straps but it makes their accessibility more difficult than it should be, especially so so much empty room for these buttons on the sides of the monitor.

I see you're in NY, check with Dave from Vidkey. He's in NY. I bought mine from Dave. It might be handy to have him as a vendor if you have a firmware update. He also honored the dvxuser discount. Although, I'm not sure he still is.

Dave drove a loaner over to my house for a shoot while we waited to get mine delivered. He's a good guy and a pro and I had a good experience with him so it's just a personal endorsement. Vidkey – 914-239-3232 ask for Dave or email radin@vidkey.com

Vidkey is an official DVXUser Group discount provider for the WFM-056WP, like FilmTools, last I heard. As far as I know, this deal is still available from both vendors.

Was waiting 3 weeks for my second one now -they said it´s because of the Japan disaster.
Got a mail and a UPS tracking number now - should deliver tomorrow.

Can´t wait.

It finally arrived - funny thing: it only says VFM-056P on the box and on the monitor, but it has all the WP features.
Looks like it´s only a firmware thing, with no extra hardware involved- similar to the F3 upgrade.

I was a little worried the other day as my monitor started flickering a ton and not holding a signal. I thought it was my cable or something but I guess it was just the batteries. They ran out faster than I thought. After replacing things were all set. I'm glad nothing was wrong because it would've been a nightmare to send it in.

Overall I think I'm very happy with this monitor. After coming from a hefty SD marshall on the last film that practically tipped the setup over, this thing is great. I still think that the coolest feature is the variable opacity on the aspect markers. It's so awesome to be rid of gaffer tape to properly frame my widescreen stuff, because those wimpy white lines never cut it for me.

Latest from TV Logic distributor on battery brackets:

"Battery bracket for Panasonic AF-100 is not ready yet. Factory is still
waiting for the bracket from vendor.
I can bring (14) BB-056E for new canon 5D battery.."

This is a message from a TV Logic factory worker who is flying out to Burbank shortly.

Any update to battery brackets ?

I just pulled the trigger for WP unit but I need to decide which bracket should I buy since I have none of the power cells that today's brackets support.

Did anyone ever determine if there was a p-tap cable that would be compatible with powering the monitor?
When I was in FilmTools last week looking for such a thing, the salesperson there told me that TV-Logic was supposedly going to be making available a cable with the xlr-type power plug and a p-tap connector. I think Switronix may also have an option that can be ordered for a p-tap to 12v barrel connector, they include such a cable with their TorchLED TL-88 light that I also have and tested fine with the VFM-056/W. I was told that they don't carry them in stock, but it could be ordered from Switronix.

+1 for those batteries - I got 4 of the the 98 WH version - one lasts almost a whole day of shooting on my TV Logic VFM-056.

The price is a joke, compared to my Anton Bauers that last about the same time

Here is another item on ebay (US) that appears to be the same product at half the price ($26.99) ... http://cgi.ebay.com/12V-DC-Recharge...ultDomain_0&hash=item3a5d27ff97#ht_3053wt_952

Great, just ordered two more.

Be aware, that you have to get an adapter or make your own cable, since that barrel connector doesn't fit to the monitor.
But connectors and cable are under 5 bucks (plus a little soldering) and you are golden.

I´m thinking about, making a spiral cable with that - a bit more robust - locking connector on the back of the monitor.

Stop ordering that much they will dissapear from the market :D

I just have mine in "custody" after so many days of considering.

All of you that you have it so long you definitely propose me to avoid its own sunshade and to buy the Hoodman one ?

I will buy anyway the AA bracket for backup but I am thinking Dino's plan with a cheap charger and Panasonic's replacement batteries + bracket of course as I have none of them.

Can anyone ask these guys if they will release soon any other bracket ?

Can anyone tell me the specs/manuf. of the tvlogic 5.6 power supply.?..I made the mistake of not labeling mine and now have it mixed up with several other supplies.

Thanks for any info...

I would buy 2 of these from you if you made them.

Mine says Li Shin International Enterprise Corp as the manufacturer, Model LSE0107A1240, 120-240V ~ 50/60Hz 1A, Ouput 12V 3.33A. Towards the bottom of the label it says JET and Ikegami Tsushinki Co, Ltd.

Actually the TVLogic takes a 12v power supply, so pretty much any voltage between 5.6v and 12v will suffice, as far as I know. The biggest issue is just finding a power supply with the correct sized barrel connector.
